mikestrivens Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Halfords do a good range of torque wrenches. The correct torque should be in the handbook for the bike. Quote

Westbeef Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Have you checked the chains tightest point? It wears unevenly so you have to find the tightest point. Quote

Westbeef Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 That’ll be the tight spot I described , set the correct tension at the tightest spot and invest in a new chain and sprockets asap. If they’re out as much as you’re describing they’re more than likely ready to be replaced. Quote
Mgrhiki Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 How many miles has the chain done?around 3000 milesSent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk Quote

megawatt Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Sounds like knackered chain and sprockets to me. Check this by grabbing back of chain on rear sprocket at 3 O'clock position. Pull chain straight back. If it lifts more than 3mm, it probably needs replacing. Check again when chain is slack. Also spin rear wheel backwards. Listen and watch chain. Report back. Quote

Grumpy Old Git Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Looks like new sprockets and chain - Have you been cleaning & re-lubing the chain since you had the bike (3000 miles) - Essential to make it last. Quote
Guest Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Never used a torque wrench on rear axle nut....just a 12" spanner, adjusted to its "effin' tight" setting......just be sure the axle is level in the adjusters. I normally use a calliper gauge rather than rely on the marks cast into the chain adjusters, FWIW.... Quote
