Rhyye Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 TL:Dr. Can a FI model bikes exhaust go on a carbed model. So, question for you all. I currently am in need of either a full exhaust or just a set of downpipes for my K5 Bandit 650. Is it possible to use a K7+ FI model exhausts for this? With the bike only being carbed in 05-06 models it's hard to find a cheap and not rusty set, yet the 07+ models there are plenty. They look like they'd bolt right on, I'm just worried about the issue of the O2 sensor. I'm aware it can be plugged, I just cant find the information on if there is any other different of fitting, flow or somesuch.Any help much appreciated because it's loud as balls and I do nights. Think of the children I'm no doubt waking up! Quote
megawatt Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 As long as the exhaust centres are the same and there is clearance to the frame and engine, it will fit. You can weld a Lambda sensor adaptor into the collector. Quote
Rhyye Posted May 5, 2018 Author Posted May 5, 2018 Brilliant stuff. Will I have to weld an adaptor in, despite it being a carbed bike or can I just find a plug for the hole (where the outward wire screws in)Sorry, no clue on this kind of deal, but if it is indeed this easy it'll be saving me a good few quid. Mr Fro Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 You can screw a bung in to the lambda sensor hole - one of these or similar. Quote
Rhyye Posted May 5, 2018 Author Posted May 5, 2018 And that should be the end of it, right? As long as everything else fits, that hole is plugged it shouldn't cause me issues from anything inside the pipe? Thanks, it has really made my evening knowing this. I can't afford to throw £300 for a full exhaust on top of the £80 for sprocket/chain right before an MOT. Quote
Westbeef Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 If it’s a different set of headers and they fit, it might just run a little bit off and need some fueling adjustment to run perfectly. Shouldn’t be unridable or anything just might not be smooth. Quote
