Grumpy Old Git Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Ok you heroes out there - I am trying to locate the Auxiliary power output socket on my Fatboy 114 (2018 model). I have the 'battery maintainer' socket located and the USB socket. I have also 'found' the grey 6 pin socket which is, I believe, the diagnostic connector. I've g@@gled and binged to no avail - Yoo tube also has some good vids but not that apply to my bike.I know I could tap off from the battery but that is bl@@dy difficult to access easily. So folks, anyone out there solve this for me?NB. I have contacted the dealership - No response from HD in the States (been a few days since I sent the inquiry). Quote
fastbob Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Is it at all possible that it hasn't got one ? Quote
JRH Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 you may need thishttps://www.harley-davidson.com/store/electrical-connection-upgrade-kit Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 you may need thishttps://www.harley-davidson.com/store/electrical-connection-upgrade-kit Doesn't list my bike! However, looks like a simple 'breakout' job with 3 wires being 'tapped' - Once I've identified those three, I can tap into the loom myself (rather than pay $17+ shipping) - Just need to be 100% sure the bike has not got an aux socket tucked away somewhere Quote
Gerontious Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 I wouldn't touch the loom. just connect it directly to the battery so its always live.. just as they are on BMWs. this will allow for power out as well as somewhere to connect a battery minder/charger.and then use a socket like this: http://tinyurl.com/yc7qe9hm Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted August 29, 2018 Author Posted August 29, 2018 Already got a 'battery minder' outlet plug.Bl@@dy difficult to access the battery and, I would never wire 'direct' anyway - I would always go through a relay and separate fused circuit (done this quite a few times before) but, as Harleys are known to (usually) have an aux output built in, that is what I am trying to acertain.Currently awaiting a response from the manufacturer.
