Noble Dave Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Honda cbr600f 1999 as title says dont always happen but cant see what it is as moved wires around and its never turned off when I do that, could be...Ignition barrel way outHISS system way outStarter relay way out (but that's at back of bike) Or none of the above, like said only intermittent, turn bars 20 times and all fine or turn it 5 times in a row and it cuts off, but then won't do it again etc etc and only on full left lock, any ideas ta, dont have a multimeter unfortunately Quote
dynax Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 could be a broken wire, or a loose connection, a multi meter would be best to check continuity, but a bulb or buzzer and a battery would work Quote
Noble Dave Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 Found issue not long after posting this haha, from ignition barrel is a ribbed hose under neath with a break in it showing the insulation on the wires, water is going in I believe and shorting it but not sure how unless the inner insulation is damaged but if so then it would ark all the time not just intermittently, so will dry this break in the outer insulation and elecy tape it up and see what happens Quote
raesewell Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Self amalgamating tape would be a better option in this case. Quote
Noble Dave Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 Not the ribbed bit, its actually the wires going into the bottom of the ignition barrel so gonna take it off and see if can re solder or position connectiong as screw may just have come loose so will lock tight it back up Quote
Noble Dave Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 Anyone know if Halfords sell automotive wire? As replaceing wires from barrel to the relay tomorrow Quote
Noble Dave Posted May 12, 2019 Author Posted May 12, 2019 Any idea what amp multicore it will require? Quote
raesewell Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 Measure it with a vernier caliper or take a bit with you. Quote
