Hi friends

My old GSXR y is having trouble starting when engine warm. Ok starting cold at the mo,but after ride it’s slow turning over if at all! I’m thinking starter motor on way out. Don’t really wanna take to garaged if can fix myself. Battery on multimeter said 12.5

Battery voltage at rest doesn't tell you the whole story. Check it under load in case the voltage is collapsing.

A hot engine has higher compression so a failing battery might be the cause. Or, as you say, a weak starter. But worth double checking the battery first.

If the fault turns out to be the starter motor there isn't much that can go wrong that cannot be fixed . Refurbishment kits are inexpensive and available for most starters but very often all that is needed is a strip down and a good clean .
