Looking for help overhere !

I am looking into buying a Yamaha MT-03, the 2016 and on version, 321cc (I am actually after the blue/black 2019 version).

While the price of a New is 5000£, I have seen quite a few deals while browsing the internet that offered bikes with 30 mileage to 100 mileage, sold at prices between 4000 and 4400.

My question would be the following : is a 600£ to 1000£ depreciation for 30 to 100 miles supposed to be for those 2019 MT-03 321cc ? Or are those deals likely to be scams, or at least sketchy ?

(Also, is there any reliable, free of charge website that would provide with price depreciation index ?)

Sounds about right.

A lot of dealers put some miles on bikes they want to shift so they can knock the price down. 20% reduction. i.e. the VAT is quite common.

If in doubt just buy from a reputable dealer.

Whatever happens:- There are more bikes than money. Its a commodity and salesmen WILL be prepared to haggle even if it looks like that they won't Be prepared to walk away from a deal. In fact, start by looking at the worst deals, furthest away first just for practice at "walking away". Leave you number. You might get a phone call - Then YOU are in the driving seat.

That price sounds ok to me for a good condition ex-demo but make sure they have done, or throw in for free, the first service too. That can cost another £150-200 easy.

For comparison, I got 15% off my MSX without much haggling and that was buying it new.

Just sold a car and worked out the depreciation. Over 4 and a half years, £37.75 a month. That is less than it cost to fuel it. It used to be the single biggest cost of car ownership. To make that even more remarkable, it was a Fiat Tipo that carwow reported as being the biggest depreciating car of all. Insuring it was the biggest monthly cost.

 

Car and bike prices are nuts, way higher than in the past, but it appears there is an upside with the lack of depreciation.

If you want that bike in the colour you want, with those few miles on in immaculate condition while at £1000 pounds less with a reputable manufacturers dealer that supplied the bike its definitely worth it over buying new.
