Cheap cam-chain tensioner?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a new manual cam-chain tensioner as my CBR600 f3 is sounding a bit rattly! Wheres the best place to get one from? Honda want £90 for a new(automatic) one. No sign on Ebay.

The manual ones don't degrade with time cos there's no spring, just a bolt and thread.

but if you tighten them too tight it will wear the cam chain too quick and if you dont adjust it get ready for a new motor :?

also the honda uprated one will be fine they are made to put a certain amount of pressure on the cam chain unlike a manual one you cant get it wrong

Ok. I got the impression that the manual one was an upgrade because it wouldn't deteriorate with time,, but I don't want to risk my engine! There are no sources that you know for an OEM automatic one then?

only honda!!

manual ones are ok if adjusted properly but the adjuster could be a right pain to get to and you could forget or adjust it wrong its easily done :?

not worth the risk

try david silver spares :)

you sure its just not jammed?...start your bike up and give the tensioner a few light taps and it will probably start working again.

Sure Ive read if you take it out and give it a damn good clean with brake cleaner does it. Anyone heard this?

nah its a honda they had problems with cam chain tensioners thats why they uprated it :)

Yeah I know that bud, just if its servicable, its a cheap fix. Will hunt around for it, Ride mag did a 20 year history of the cbr that became my bible lol, sad I know but

Bikes got 30k on it, and came with the clatter, although if a sunny day comes i'll give it a clean before shelling out.
