Bob Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Tried to renew online yesterday as I normally do, every 3 years, they've moved the goal posts and because I haven't got a passport it wouldn't let me complete it...I'm 76 in July...because of the coronavirus they don't want you to send in paper applications...and are not sending out reminders...I've sent in a renewal form with my licence (and photograph everything first)..there's no alternative....any more oldies on here that might have the same problem..?.. dynax Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 It is stupid some of things that require you to have a valid passport for, i don't have one mine expired in 2010, never bothered renewing as i will never need to go abroad anytime soon, i would try and find a phone number and speak to someone, they still have some staff working Quote
Bob Posted June 12, 2020 Author Posted June 12, 2020 Tried ringing them, they're not accepting phone calls or emails unless you're an essential worker ...but they will probably accept my road tax money when it's due Quote
fredc Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 If you need a picture, do it at a post office with the special photo booth Quote
Mack01 Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 I recently had to renew my licence and don't have a passport (mine expired in 2006 and I haven't felt the need to renew). I was told that I had to go to the post office, so I took the morning off work and went early. They said they don't do it but the bigger post office 40mins drive away might. So I took a chance and went to Bath PO. After some faffing it was done in about 20 minutes using their special licence booth. Have to say they were very quick at delivery as it arrived six days later (and has a rather groovy hologram of my picture on the back)Maybe worth a try? Good luck. Quote
