Keeper96 Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 Hi all, Ive got a ‘99 gsx600f but it’s a bit of a bitsa bike as it’s got the engine from an ‘88-‘97 gsxf in it. I’m looking for new sprockets and chain to get ready for the spring but the chains listed that would match the bike are different from what would match the engine. should I buy parts to match the engine or the bike? cheers Jamie Quote
husoi Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 You should buy the engine sprocket that fits the engine, the rear sprocket that fits the wheel and the chain that fits both. 1 Quote
Stu Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 This kit which is a very good one and what I recommend https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/87209 Will fit all these models on the gsx600f 00-02 (K1), 2002 (K2), 2003 (K3), 97-98 (W), 98-99 (X), 2000 (Y) I suspect the engine is the same if its fitted to your bike the difference looks to be swingarm length which would affect chain length Quote
Stu Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 JTF 513.14 sprocket fits Suzuki GSX600 F,FJ,FUJ,FU2J Katana 1985-1988 Suzuki GSX600 F-K,L,M Katana (GN72B) 1989-1991 Suzuki GSX600 F-N,P,R,S,T,V Katana 1992-1997 JTF 513.15 sprocket fits Suzuki GSX600 F-W,X,Y,K1,K2,K3,K4,K5,K6 Katana 1998-2006 Its a cheap sprocket I have used here to cross reference the 513 is the sprocket code and the 14 or 15 at the end is the number of teeth So its the same sprocket on both bikes just a different number of teeth so yours should be a 15 not a 14 On that basis I would order for the bike year not the engine Quote
