Guest Posted June 3, 2008 Share Posted June 3, 2008 Was at the NW200, my mates brotjher Darren Burns was racing against Robert at the time, they wer doin 160mph when roberts bike siezed infront of darren. robert hit the dirt and darren hit him head on, cudnt do anything about it. darren is in hospital with nasty injuries including a fractured back and broken pelvis...there was a terrible atmosphere goin into the start of the wkends racing, but when wee michael won the 250 race the crowd went mad thoughts go out to the dunlop family and i hope Daz (darren burns) gets better soon (also RIP Marty Finnegan)keep her lit lads!! different breed is rite!! As what was said previously people will always want to shut it down.Yip the bike did lock up and what I have been told also that Roberts bike flipped over eg over the handle bars... Roberts bike was modified and his front brake was on the left hand side... Story's go that he must of subconsciously pulled in hard with his left hand thinking it was his clutch and the bike threw him over... But as we all know who was not at the corner this could just be a roomer...As you said when Michel took the 250 win the atmosphere was something else...
