Matt88 Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Hi everyone, I passed my CBT in March and a friend has offered to sell me his 1992 Honda C90, it has 10,000 miles, a few dinks and scratches, as well as a cracked mirror, he's looking for £1750 - £1850 and I was just wondering if this was a good price, he's the bikes 2nd owner and has replaced the white wind guard and fuel pipe, the bike is also fitted with a fuel filter, he reckons he's spent around £600 on it since owning it, id imagine on servicing and things. Do you think this would be a good buy as a first bike? Do you think its worth £1750 or shall I offer lower? Many Thanks Matt Quote
KiwiBob Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 You've gone from asking about Suzuki VanVan to Lexmoto Tempest to CG 125 to CBF125 and now to C90. What will you be asking about next week? Quote
Matt88 Posted May 9, 2022 Author Posted May 9, 2022 Steady on mate its only Monday, I've not finished asking about this weeks question yet Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 C90's attract collectable value so you're paying a lot for what was a modest if very reliable form of cheap transport. Have a look at prices of them and compare how they look to one he's offering. If it's got a few battle scars I'd offer a bit less, but you're still buying a collector's bike rather than a cheap set of wheels so it's going to be pricier than alternatives. So it depends what you want it for. It's certainly not fitting your retro scrambler/cruiser aspiration But if you want reliable transport round town they're hard to beat. No good at all above 40mph though. They have an unusual gear selection, press down for 1st, again for 2nd and again for 3rd. You can go flick up to do down the gears. But when you stop you can press down again and go from 3rd to 1st. Back in the day your local toe-rags loved to steal them because they were so easy to ride, but I suspect they wouldn't be seen dead on one now so that side of things ought to be easier. Quote
bud Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 If you are not sure about the price. And prices of these are all over the place, check eBay. You can search and see similar bikes, and what they sold for. You will be paying more for it just because these are very collectable now. Quote
