Gerontious Posted July 2, 2023 Author Posted July 2, 2023 Hardly back and a basic outline for next June is already in place. Rather than the plan for this year which was moving from place to place each day, next year will be two base camps. Within Germany - The Harz and the Allgau. as a plan A. with the south of France as a Plan B. As always with camping - chasing the sun. never been to the Harz. Always been put off by its description as the "Rain Capital of Germany" - but its worth a try. Cant say Im in any rush to return to Italy any time soon. Staggeringly expensive. petrol was normally €1.99 a litre. and everything else was equally expensive compared to everywhere else. France and especially Austria were cheap by comparison with Germany a close 3rd. €7 night on average to camp in France. circa €25 in Italy really took the shine off it. As did Snoddys incident with a deranged yank. Anyway.. barely 2 months till we're off to the Eifel for a week staying in relative luxury at our favourite hotel. in Neuerburg. so time to get the ball rolling with that. This week. 2 Quote
keith1200rs Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Hartz mountains is a nice area with some lovely towns. I wasn't there on the bike though. Stayed in Goslar which is very picturesque with lots of good restaurants. Quote
