Looking for some advice - sometimes when I go down to first - my gears sort  of 'judder' / make clicky noises?

It doesn't happen between any other gear changes - but I was pondering if it was linked to the clutch not releasing the gears - or what might cause it

Sometimes I also fail to find  N - or it tells me I'm in N but i'm not !

Any tips?

False neutrals are par for the course now and again, try matching the revs to the speed your dropping it down to if that makes sense, IE little blip to raise revs as your dropping into first.

This could be normal. My CB125F never liked dropping in to 1st gear until I completely stopped, and sounded like a ratchet when I tried to do so.

As Bender said, a little blip helps.

This bike is sensitive to chain slackness!! If its too loose it will do these, make sure  lighten it up. On its Centre stand it needs 15-25mm on the lower but middle of the chain.

check if the crush drives in the rear wheel are ok, they should be tight in place with no sloppiness.
