Isla Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Anyone wanting an alternative to Google Maps that has downloadable OSM mapping to run offline I can recommend Magic-Earth. I have it running on a not very high end Motorola phone. Running the device in Airplane Mode is very power efficient and it took me from Edinburgh back to the east o Manchester last weekend without being plugged into the charge socket. The regular Map & Turn by Turn display is actually clearer to these eyes than Google Maps and I have even used it blind by listening through earbuds before I bought a phone mount. Whilst it has the usual Walk/Cycle/Drive options when planning a route, I have contacted the developers who say they are looking at a Motorcycle mode in the long term, possibly with full screen Turn by Turn navigation. For anyone looking at options it is definitely worth a look & is amazing considering it is free. 4 Quote
onesea Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Just down loaded it and had quick look, got to say I like the look off. such a shame the Max speed for a truck doesn’t go as low as 30mph, then add avoid 60mph roads, it would be perfect route planning for my daughter on her Moped. 1 Quote
Isla Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Is worth asking the developers Onesea. They replied to my question within a few days. It was scouring the menus that prompted me to ask them about turn by turn navigation, as in the Car settings they have such an option known as Head Up Display, the only issue being it's a mirror image designed to reflect up onto the windscreen Quote
