Simon Davey Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 So tonight I stripped and cleaned my rear brake caliper. I thought the previous "bell end" has put the pistons in up-side-down. These plastic things just seem to rattle about in the pistons, but appear to be pointless. Are they some kind of gimmick for reducing noise? I'm inclined not to put them back when I reassemble tomorrow night. Thanks in advance. Quote
KiwiBob Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I don't know if this is the same as yours but it shows those plastic bits. 2 Quote
husoi Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I would check sites like cmsnl or partzilla and check the diagrams. It should tell you if that's part of the assembly 1 Quote
AstronautNinja Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Something to reduce the air volume possibly? 1 Quote
Simon Davey Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 Thanks people, I think they're to reduce noise. I'm check the handbook tomorrow. Quote
AstronautNinja Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 A quick Google seems to indicate they're for heat dissipation / heat soak prevention 1 Quote
