So tonight I stripped and cleaned my rear brake caliper.

I thought the previous "bell end" has put the pistons in up-side-down.

These plastic things just seem to rattle about in the pistons, but appear to be pointless.

Are they some kind of gimmick for reducing noise?

I'm inclined not to put them back when I reassemble tomorrow night.

Thanks in advance.

I would check sites like cmsnl or partzilla and check the diagrams.

It should tell you if that's part of the assembly

Anti squeel shims

They stop metal to metal contact

Shouldn't be loose though

Ah right, maybe they're worn.

Seems strange to have them on the back, and not the front.

Cheers Stu.
