Darroll Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 I have a 14 year old Honda CBF 125 which failed its MOT for the 1st time, one of the issues was excessively worn swing arm bushes, I’ve been to a garage and the claim that the bushes can’t be replaced, yet if I search for them I find replacements, I’m tot confused the garage is normally spot on with their info, what is everyone else’s opinion or advice Quote
husoi Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 They will make more money by replacing the swing arm. Possibly takes longer to remove the bushes and replace them than just get a new swing arm Quote

Tinkicker Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 (edited) Honda do not list the swingarm bushes seperately, so they do not recommend trying to replace them. Your workshop is spot on. Kudos to them. Small motorcycles are often designed and viewed by the manufacturers as a bit like washing machines. They have a finite lifespan ( I recall reading that the late 70s, early 80s Honda TL125/XL125S had a B50 engine design life of 10,000 miles) and a CBF125 would be expected to either be written off, stolen and residing at the bottom of a river, or made into a field bike, thrashed round a field until it broke and then parked rusting behind a shed for a few years, before being given to a passing scrap man; long before the swingarm bushings were expected to delaminate. The fact that yours is still on the road is testament to your caring for it. Secondhand swingarms should be readily available from any number of bike breakers. Probably just needs a new battery but I don't have time." I've corrected that for you 4 Quote
