Platty5791 Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 (edited) Heya, I'm Mike and I'm just wondering what you have reached on a motorbike, wether its on the back, sidecar or driving yourself Please Be Honest:) We know what speed the bikes go Personally, I have been on the back of my mates Suzuki Hayabusa 1200 Turbo down the country lane at 11:30. He took me to 173mph before he had to slow down (because of end of road coming) and to my shock, he was only in 4th gear... and had ALOT left in the throttle, which is just...extreme. This was the first time i had been on the back of a motorcycle, and MY GOD it blew my mind away! It gave me the best feeling, rush of adrenaline I've ever had. That is pretty much why i became a biker myself. the feeling you get when riding a motorbike is something else. The conditions of this were, waiting in the road for 10minutes making sure we had a nice clear road ahead, the weather was calm, not even very dark for once. pretty mild in temperature. the road was nicely tarmacked, no crap on the road which is always nice. The fastest I have been on my new bike ZXR-400 was coming home from swimming about 10pm, tucked myself behind the screen with a nice open road, must be straight for at least 3-4miles. and hit 143MPH before i had to slow down. That was fast enough for me YES I know driving fast is naughty, but hell, you have to try your limits sometime If you could include some information such asCircumstancesBikeHow You FeltTime Of DayWas It Sensible (in means of the time/road/weather etc)I am not saying you should speed or enforcing speedingThanks for sharing:)Oh and if you dont want to say, due to maybe someone finding this thread and convicting you for speeding or something haha, then dont worry just use POLL Edited November 7, 2008 by Platty5791 Quote
rollazuki Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Hayabusa, 185+ on speedo, prob relates to 160+real mph.Unfortunately, bike wasnt mine.My old Nitro'd Bandit, approx 175mph. Rev limiter, top gear, calculated speed(speedo had given ghost up long before.).Fastest ever seen on speedo, over 200mph, on a 'Busa, on a paddock stand, in top. Twas terrifying.Current bike........about a ton. No more. Quote
Guest Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 had an indicated 179 on me gixer with a speedo healer fitted and calibrated Quote
Guest Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 140mph had to do it once to get it out of my system it worked i was crapping myself NEVER NEVER NEVER again. My view is that once you go over 70mph you have very little chance of living if you come off. And i like living Quote

dex Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 2006 Kawasaki ZX6R (636cc)186 Indicated on Speedo - Pulling 15,500rpm in top gear (redline)Realistically? Probably around 170 Genuine. It was a week after I bought the bike. But it was on a closed runway - on an organised 1/4 mile and runway day. Last mile of the runway is slightly downhill - which helped the bike pull up to the redline in top. On the runway at the same time were a few other modern 600s, a 7R and a recent (05 maybe) Gixxer 750. The 636 was leaving/catching all of them (staggered start)It was quite awesome as an experience, never felt the need to go that quick on the road on the bike - but given the environment felt fantastic to have the bike flat out. Bill_on_a_bike Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 an indicated 72mph, whatever difference that makes. Down a very long hill on the A41, I had my hand over the clutch in preperation for the engine blwing and seizing the back wheel. I've never heard that engine make such a loud noise, i have no tacho, but it must havebeen doing well over 8 or 9k Quote
