matt.ware0476 Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Just fitted a new rear silencer on the kids bike, added some fiberglass packing to reduce noise, the t clamp has come a little loose and shown a black leakage from inside the exhaust. Any idea what this might be? Thanks Sinnis gpx 2024 Quote
husoi Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 I would put my money in some coating that will go away as you run the bike. Maybe the exhaust spent some time in the rain and got some inside. As you run the bike it would dry out while at same time will be expelled 1 Quote

Nick the wanderer Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 I'd be taking the can back off and having a look at whatever you put in there to see if it's melting. 1 Quote

Simon Davey Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 (edited) @matt.ware0476 You might have overdone it and actually be preventing the exhaust from escaping properly, so the oily gas (it's a two stroke 125?) is condensing when cool, and running back down, then out through that tiny gap. Reducing noise isn't about blocking the exhaust from exiting, it's about baffling the sound by preventing it from shooting straight from the end of the can. If each end of the can is say 50mm, then the inserted baffle should have holes in it to equal 50mm. So two holes in the baffle at 25mm each, wouldn't reduce the sound as much as a baffle with five holes drilled to 10mm each, but both baffles would allow the same amount of exhaust gas to escape. Simon Davey Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 If fitting a baffle isn't an option, loosely scrunch up some chicken wire, this would reduce the noise, but still allow the exhaust gas to escape. Quote
RideWithStyles Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Pretty sure its generic Chinese a four stroke 125 SD. the exhaust isn’t sealed very well, not well at all. whats with the link hoover pipe? That’s not std….what else have you removed or changed? why the exhaust is its placement there? It and the clamp is rubbing (edge resting on another edge is either terrible place a stopping/locking point or a sheer off one) while scratched the swing… Moisture maybe from the wadding you used and If it continues to its packed too much, the other is ifs breaking/melting down already? Where you get the wad? Quote
