Hey everyone,

I’m looking at getting an older bike, probs something around the 2000´s. I like the style of the virago’s and rebels from that era.

But I don’t know if the 250 would be able to handle motorway driving very well or carry a passenger if I needed.

Are there any similar style bikes with a bigger engine, for similar style prices 2-3k?

I do like the fact that the viragos are reliable and that is a necessity for any of the other options as I will be commuting and putting a lot of miles on it.

thanks everyone :)

A 250 will struggle on the motorway - you won't want to do more than a mile or two - and it will really, really struggle 2-up.  A 750 is likely to do a lot better for what you want.

Thanks everyone, sounds like a bigger engine than a 250 is needed. I quite like this style of bike, but I presume these are cruiser style bikes like the virago that people have modified. Are there stock bikes in this style?

The Yamaha 650 Dragstar might be worth a look as well.

There are loads of these available within your budget. This will do what you want, but I'm afraid the 250 Virago has only 20bhp. It will not cope comfortably 2 up on the motorway. The 650 Dragstar really is a stylish good looking bike. It is also shaft drive, which eliminates the chain and sprocket.
