IndigoJo Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Morbidelli? Might sell well in Italy and China, but I don't think that name will do it any favours here. 2 Quote

Gerontious Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 back in the day Morbidelli produced a lovely looking V8 engine. However one of the models they put this engine into was, shall we say a little odd looking. (being generous) Ive actually seen one of those on the road.. up near Bolton Abbey. Though the more standard looking bike was a little more 'traditional'. 1 Quote
Simon Davey Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 @Gerontious What capacity is that V8? Doesn't look like a huge frame busting, lump. Quote

RideWithStyles Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Not a bad looking engine or bike (of that era- most had questionable style). very compact and straight threw with the transmission. Would have sounded mint. servicing must be be a major pain in the arse…. And trying to keep it evenly cool or not too cold would have been difficult. frame would have been bolted to the upper centre case or if you want to be real swift- monocoque and the engine and trans is part of the frame. So it probably would have been very loose or twisting a lot, It would have handled very differently. Quote
IndigoJo Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 What's the advantage of 8 cylinders on a motorbike engine? I only see V8s on heavy haulage trucks these days (only by Scania at that) and they're 16 litres. Quote
RideWithStyles Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 (edited) Being cool- looking cool and sounding cool…. drive, lack of inertia, super smooth, very well balanced while sounding interesting. Doesnt need a sky high amount of revs or a turbo but that helps if designed properly. Depending on capacity- smaller pistons and valves each having to do less work to attain a given HP goal. oh and it’s just cool - the best engines that had stood the test of time for good reason- corvettes, fords, bmw, lotus, Audi (along with inline 5),Bentley, maybe merc , plus afew other oldies all v8’s.
