Jay-mt09 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Hello all im getting ridiculous insurance quotes, does anyone know any good insurance company’s or have any tips to get my price down? thanks Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted January 7 Posted January 7 So many variables: Value of the bike. Age. Mileage / Pillion cover / Commuting Riding experience. / No claims. Occupation Location of bike overnight. (postcode/garaged) When you want the policy to start (aim for 3 weeks in the future - if you want it tomorrow it'll be more expensive). How long you've owned the bike. Fully comp vs TPFT Etc. Etc. I usually go to Compare The Market / Confused.Com and play about with all of them (keeping answers honest, otherwise you really are screwed). One thing I used to do, instead of paying in instalments with the extra credit charge, was to get one of those introductory credit card offers (0% for 10 months) and stick it all on that, paying it all off over the interest free period. Not sure if they still do them though. Hope you get it sorted. 5 Quote
Hairsy Posted January 7 Posted January 7 The only thing to add is that I've worked with the insurance aggregators. I haven't done so for 5 years or so but, when I did, MoneySuperMarket was the one that would drive for (and receive) the best deals with the insurer because they would put more business through to us. My personal experience since then has matched that and I almost always get the best deal through MSM. Second place (and on one occasion, for me, first place) usually goes to Compare The Market. I've used many insurers over the years. Best service, by a country mile, has been LV=. I'm happy to pay up to £50 more to be with them. I've had to deal with 3 claims with them for my family and they've been superb - especially when there's no fault for their policyholder. 2 3 Quote
RideWithStyles Posted January 7 Posted January 7 (edited) Sometimes private motorists transport is expensive as it is a luxury not always seen as a necessity… now you’ve not gone into any details so I’m assuming it’s just a rant but if you want to ride you might just have to bite the bullet for the first year to get yourself on the ladder, assuming your a new rider? What quotes, age, roughly area, license, bike, ncb or claims already made, any convictions, garage etc. if you dont tell us these things you might still be getting good ones for you circumstances but you believe there high or ballooned for what ever reasons . Punts Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Last year I had a follow-up call last year from Bennetts as to why I hadn't renewed through them. I had to point out the fact that as Brokers, they should have done a search to get me the best deal and not just send out an Auto-renew quote. My other bike came with a lower renewal quote when it was due. 3 Quote
husoi Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Don't forget that probably 75% of brokers are sister companies from major ones. You end up using the same people just with different names 1 Quote
zee-659 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 (edited) the only place i could get a "reasonable" quote from was bikesure- was third party only though Edited February 6 by zee-659 Quote
Hairsy Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I've also recently insured with Bikesure. I got quotes via money supermarket.com and Bikesure were the cheapest. There were a couple of queries and I was really impressed with the way they handled them. In my case, TPFT was cheaper than 3rd party only. Quote
