Borf Posted yesterday at 18:23 Posted yesterday at 18:23 (edited) Hey chaps and chapesses, I have been riding a few years and will be trading in 2006 er6F for a 2014 z1000SX. Similar biker, newer, sports tourer, very excited Just in time for my trip to Scotland!. However, bad news came in the suspension needs looking at which will mean the delivery date will be missed. Gutted. I'm deliberating riding on the part Ez, meeting, swapping gear and continuing on the tour to Scotland (Kent -> Arbroath via Huddersfield). I realise this is impatient. But I can't delay the mini tour. What are your thoughts on the risk? Distance purchasing, riding the part ex up, jumping on the bigger heavier bike 5 hours in.... Bit stupid or go for it? Cheers! Simon Davey Posted yesterday at 18:29 Posted yesterday at 18:29 @Borf I'd be pretty concerned as to why a bike that's less than a year old was delayed because of a suspension issue. I reckon you've already taken the biggest risk by buying at a distance, so just go for it. What could possibly go wrong? (anything) Just make sure your well covered for breakdown and recovery. Otherwise, good luck, and just enjoy the darned bike. Have a safe trip. Quote
onesea Posted yesterday at 18:43 Posted yesterday at 18:43 Just don’t say superbike factory please Depends on who your buying from and how much you trust them. 1 Quote
Borf Posted yesterday at 19:05 Author Posted yesterday at 19:05 Apologies, that was a typo: I meant 2014! I need more detail on the actual issue, but I appreciate the transparency and willingness to get everything on good order as they could have turned a blind eye and got it out the door. No, I think I've read enough bad stories about Superbike Factory, I avoid them at all costs. Strange their trustPilot reviews are exemplary... Suspicious eh? Appreciate the sentiments. Just thinking how I'm going to fold up the soft panniers , use the hard, and maybe send the soft ones back to myself... 1 Quote

Sounds like you're already on to a winner. Come back with pictures when you're touring.... Quote
Hairsy Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I'd definitely risk it - all part of the adventure and they're reliable. Great choice of bike - I have one and absolutely love it. Quote
RideWithStyles Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago The only suspension issues with those era of Z were, first lack of grease, then the slight mismatch of suspension set up balance like the front was artificial stiff (primarily the valve set up) yet the rear was overly soft. Fork seals weren’t the strongest ever yet better than ohlins. Rear shock wasn’t rebuildable and probably at the end of its life by now? these bikes are tyre brand model and pressure sensitive, even 2psi difference from high can make them feel their flat so absolutely needs checking often. dont get me wrong, great bikes and solid just keep those things in mind. A very long established business with a good reputation. OR Huddersfield Kawasaki Centre. A similarly long established business with a good rep. DC motorcycles. Been around for 30 years or so. Used to be a motorcycle breakers back in the day. Reputation unknown. Rock up, jump on and ride... Quote
