Guest Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Oi!! probs wont be any grass space... but a chair under the gazebo should be free

Guest Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Right everyone... we need ideas for this...We need to get more bikes involved in what has primarily been a car show... so if you go on any other forums, please post tony's info in original thread and lets see if we can get more than one forum/club there. If they dont want to do their own, maybe they would like to joing us.Also, we need some ideas, they do a best stand and we wanna win this year. We have quite a big plot of land, to show bikes, maybe make a brew, show forum images on a laptop etc etc... we just need more ideas to make it a fun day..Me and taz 'may' be posing on bikes in our black pvc catsuits and boots, depending on how hot it gets, and 'may' do some bikini bike washing... but what else can we do??!? Any novel ideas.Need to decide soon so that i can order balloons or whatever we decide to go with..Over to you
Guest akey Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 was thinking about this on the drive to work this morning.Could do a coupld of comps for fun: how quick can you change spark plugs, how quick can you change a back wheel (could use the pit bikes for the wheel), I will see if our training aids department has any old engine heads we can use for spark plugs. If we have the van and gennie again could do fastest lap around the 'ring on TTsuperbikes on the PS2!
techno Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Was there any restrictions last year forbidding anything?I know bikes had to stay put once parked etc....
Korben Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Have a word with Chris and Dan regarding bike videos. If we can get a TV up and running we should be able to have a permanent tape running showing the rides.
cleedubber Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Was there any restrictions last year forbidding anything?I know bikes had to stay put once parked etc.... Thats the usual situation at any car/bike show techno, purely on a Health and Safety front, as obviously lots of people are walking about etcThe public liability insurance is a nightmare at these things so they have to be strict, although its much easier with a bike as surely you can just manually wheel it out
Guest Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Only restriction cant have a bbq... but theres plenty of burger vans and hopefully a spud van.. (anyone know one please let me know cos theyre looking out for one).I have asked for similar spot to last year, just further along, so its on the corner, near the path, and bikes can just come up there... i envisage some of the bikes on display, and maybe having some kinda parking space for others and bike washing (hmm need to think through the water thing for this lol)Come on ideas!!!
Guest akey Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I can supply about 150 litres of water out of the van and even a method of transporting water if there is a tap nearby.I like the idea of a bike park, and I can cut up a load of bits of wood to use as stand pucks. I might also be able to get hold of some big stakes and some tape to corden off a bike park (mine tape for those that know).
Guest Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 The Think Bike people were giving out puks at Butlins... i will make contact with the road safety team here and see what we can get... might get some more freebies, stickers and hedgehogs to give away too
Susieque Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Definitely think some sort of competition goes down well - thinking about the radio station last year. How about some way of enabling people to register as a member at the show? I might make cakes/biccies if you want?

Susieque Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 ha ha ha!!! Karaoke on helium - interesting!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember those people dressed in dinner suits and ballgowns last year. We need a catchy gimmick - something that people will remember US for.Hmmmm.......
Susieque Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Lol - wasn't suggesting we necessarily dress up. Just something that'll make people think "oh yeah, those bike forum people"

Susieque Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 One thing that came to mind was last year I noticed quite a few youngsters sort of lingering - almost afraid to show an interest.Wondered if we could maybe produce some sort of handout - an 'Introduction To Biking' for interested people?

Was meaning maybe having handouts for the Motor Show - to educate would-be bikers into training etc
