I'm in the process of booking my test, I can get is much cheaper if I have my own bike. I have found a 600, but is there a restriction on the size of the bike that you take your test on?Most places seen to use 500's. I've had a look through the web but can't find the answer.

Any help would be great.

Cheers.

the question is are you insured to ride it and who will take the bike to the test centre for you?

to do DAS it has to be at least 500cc and certain power i think, so a 600 would be fine,

they only use 500cc coz there cheaper and smaller, bit easier to handle if your not used to it

I don't think you'd get insured on it would you? I'm not sure what the law is, there must be some "over 21s can ride a 500 under professional supervision" clause in the law somewhere.

Not sure, would be interested to know.

Well I got told by my instructor that I could use my 650 if I really wanted to.

I looked into it but an insurance quote of £1400 kind of put me off.

like Phil said, how would you get to the test centre and back on your own bike? You can only ride a 600 (or anything over 33bhp, which is what you have to take the test on) when accompanied by a qualified instructor

Thanks for all the replys.

Its a Yam XJ600. i was planning on putting it in the back of my van and unloading when I get to test center.

I hadn't thought about the insurance. the quotes I've got are when I have my test, good point! I'm going to check that out. I'm over 21 so hoping they wont sting me too much, I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks again.
