Guest Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 The last time I went to Scotland, I was a teenager and was taken up for a holiday by my then girlfriend. Who promptly dumped me on my birthday, in Scotland... Haven't really been in a rush to get back up there...I looked at taking A roads all the way, but wasn't a sensible option. So we took M ways up to the A75... where my TomTom fell off the bike... and bounced down the road at 70ish.. And it still works!!! An advert for the TomTom Rider if there ever was one. Only blind luck kept it out from under the wheels of passing trucks!! Down the A75 into Dumfries where we met up with Daz. Had a coffee and a chat. Nice chap, taller than I imagined too, he is TALL.....We then headed up north of Glasgow to a B&B we found in 'Motorcylists Welcome'. Very nice converted farmhouse and nice couple. A garage to lock the bikes in and even had Whisky in my room Woohoooo!!!! A full scottish breakfast in the morning and we were back on our way....I was pleasantly surprised. Scenery was lovely, roads were excellent if a bit poor in surface quality in places. The most surprising thing to me was the lack of speeding. Motorists generally kept to the limit everywhere and kept a sensible distance from each other. This made my own riding far more enjoyble as I never had a numpty right up behind me vying to overtake and kept everthing unhurried and relaxed. Due to the nature of the roads A's and B's all the way... 200 miles took 6 hours. An enjoyable 6 hours it must be said.... Did the 547 miles return in one hit though... sore bum time Some pics below Quote

Guest Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 looks like a great run, did a run north of the border last year on my bandit, went from Barrow to Helensburgh on the clyde, took the A roads all the way to Glasgow and on to Loch Lomond, but as i was cuffing it, all the B&B were booked with 4 weddings in town. so went to HB, took the motorways back.. Cracking country, and nice people.. Quote
