JoshRS Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 rang up an instuctor today, and even though i was going to hire a bike, he said i should be fine on my rs. with the swerve etc, i shouldn't have any problems if i know what im doing (which i like to think i do). i've done over 1000 miles on my bike (in no less than 4 weeks ) so i'm not knew to it. and hearing about people coming off, i really don't want to bugger up my bike.anyway, he's going to give me some training at a car park, with a mock curcuit i'm assuming. then he said if i'm not doing well then we can try it on the supplied honda cg, but it'd be more expensive.so how do you think an aprilia rs would do at the module 1? being sporty there's not much turning, as it's all supposed to be lean. MtotheJ Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I reckon the swerve would be easier, as for the rest it would be pretty much the same apart from the u turn which will be MUCH harder! Quote
JoshRS Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 the instructor reassured me about that. saying they give you plenty of space.apparently they allow you to put your foot out? not to the ground of course but for balancing, i'd be find with that ( i hope ) Quote
MtotheJ Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 hmmmm i think thats right, but if you have your foot out youre going to be a lot more tempted and likely to put it down. Try the u turn yourself in a car park. I think its 7.5 mtrs in the test. Measure your foot then walk out the length and put a bottle of water at each end and try and u turn in between them. If you struggle in that amount of space then do it on the CG. Quote

I'm going for DAS so it's not an option for me, but if I were taking a 125 test I wouldn't consider using my RS as a 4 stroke is way easier to control for slow manoeuvres. Couple that with the crap turning circle at slow speed and for me there's no contest. Pay the extra and use their 4 stroke. Quote
Guest Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 i will be doing my test on a rs125 pretty much exactly the same milage as you in a few weeks will take it in the next 3 months and ive tried the swerve on private land and i dont see what al lthe fuss is about in the dry obviously in the wet i would be alot more anxiousgo for it mate even if you need be go to somewhere like tesco late at night if you can practice a few uturns , figure of 8s to make you feel confident and go for it Quote
