Boots - Magnum vs biker boots?

Recommended Posts

I currently wear my army combat boots every where, but needing a new pair of boots soon, and im aware of the whole 'dont wear steal toe cap boots when riding' thing. The brings me onto the question of do i buy myself a nice sturdy pair of magnums to use for both bike and normal day to day, or do i buy a cheap set of boots for day to day and a pair of bike boots?

Im a new rider btw

The latter.

Bike boots are made for the job and will allow you to feel the gear change etc while still giving you the protection you need if you come off your bike.

Magnums may well be nice and sturdy, but won't necessarily afford the same level of protection when you need it.

Horses for courses really :D

On the other hand, since you're talking Magnums, mine's a Double Choc please

Magnums are great for running around in tactical attire.. but useless on a motorcycle as they are canvass. bike boots for bikes, in the event of an accident they keep the ankle supported, something the magnums will fail at. there are alternative boots than the typical bike boots..

:stupid:

Magnums (both versions) are good for running around in, and summer ops but they offer very little ankle protection as walking / patrol boots let alone as bike boots.

Depending what you need from work boots, have a look at the boots from Alt-berg http://www.altberg.co.uk/Web/motorcycle1.jsp . From experience these are top notch boots and worth every penny and they will probably be the most comfortable boots you have ever worn.

If you want to keep the magnums then I would go get some bike boots as well.
