MtotheJ Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Agree with WF and PG here. There are tonnes of videos on youtube about draggin jeans where people are dragged on their ass at about thirty mile an hour and the trousers are still intact. Leathers will/should be stronger than this therefore if good quality wont fall apart at 30 mph. Im fortunate to have both, although prefer the leathers a lot more. I feel safer, more comfortable, more flexible and lets face it youll look better I only use my textiles when its raining at the moment but imagine ill use them when its also freezing out! Quote
Paul Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I have recently brought a 600cc Thundercat. Should I ride with textiles or leather. I want to be comfortable but also safe. Can you reccomend any leathers or textiles that would be good? Black leathers all the way mate the women love it!! :D Quote
Stephen Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I own leathers and textiles. I use my textiles for commuting due to the unpredictable weather and the fact i can get my normal clothes underneath. I wear my leathers when im just going out biking in the dry, warm weather Quote
Welshtoffi Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 And from a mere newbie....I have combi trousers....leather and textile mix..... Quote
Mikey Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 I have full 2pc textiles, but I only really bother with the jacket for around town.I have 2 other jackets, a cheapish textile one and a leather one Not a fan of leather anymore Quote
Netmeister Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 A heavy guage cordura (textile) is actually 5 times more abrasive resistant than leather. Thats interesting. I've always been told nothing is better than leather for abrasion. Even on my bikesafe day. Quote
nman1 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Dan, as we said yesterday, if you want kit, come along to the BMF in September. You could get leathers, textiles whatever you need at a good price. I`ll post something up nearer the time. Quote
Guest Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Can always get both, if budget allows. Thats what I did. Got a leather jacket and gloves, then textile jacket, legs etc etc. Quote

I bought the textile for my lessons as it was in winter, then got the 2 piece leathers for the track. I'd still be interested in the BMF show though, there's a couple of other bits I need. Quote
