Hi Keith Thankyou for the advice, didn't even realise there was something wrong tbh - I will look into it after we've moooved house and I've unpacked my Haynes manual!
-
I flooded my engine multiple times from over-filling with petrol when I first got my bike- aparently I have a 14litre tank but it floods if I fill it more than 11 litres! I followed a mate's advice to rock her back and forth pulling the clutch in and out. This seemed to work, no idea why lol, I'm a newbie like you! But my bike is the opposite from yours (125cc cruiser), but worth trying if all else fails - also would be good if it was that simple for you!

Same , I've got a 125cc cruiser and saving up til I can afford to do DAS later in the year, then the plan is to sell my bike to my partner and go bigger while he's chugging along at 60mph, haha! Get road-wise first before going for a bigger bike if money is a problem at the moment. I got an amazing cruiser for £600, full service and MOT £150, insurance £120 & road tax was £14 or something! So, SO much cheaper than driving a car, so much cooler, can skirt around the traffic and of course it's fun! The law is changing for people up to 24 I believe next year - see here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Dr ... /DG_201206

Why thankyou very much, I'd really appreciate that -the jacket does have the pouches for the inserts to go in. Would you like anything for them? I'd obv cover postage too. Cheers!! But the Furygan jacket I spent £130 on is the one that has the shoddy foam inserts - the leather jacket is second hand from a bike convention for £30 and it's proper armoured up. I don't get it really! But will keep in mind about the stitching and everything in the future. I'm just on a 125cc atm that won't go past 65mph unfortunately...full licence by the end of the year I hope! Thanks lovely. btw, what kind of 'bits protection' are ya after?? Haha!
-
Really?!?! That jacket cost SO much money! Boo! I'll prob just keep wearing my leather jacket til it gets cold then, then invest in proper armour inserts. Thanks for advice! The text is more to match my bike, as my hair is currently this colour (below), and going blue to match my wedding dress for our big day in 6 weeks time!:

I has new candycane/exhaust!! Someday I'll get round to fitting it PS - only the best people have cowprint scalpels -
Matty! I think my dad just wants me to look the dog's bollocks seing as he chose and chipped in for most of my bike - I was just wondering if people wear mis-matched stuff often and if other bikers are secretly laughing at me Btw, don't go knocking the Power Rangers, that shit was cool! I love the idea of getting the 'my other bike is a GSXR1100' sticker!!! Genius!

Yay - pregnant buddies!!! So glad it's not just me I mean that the inserts in the fabric jacket are just really flexible soft foam, the armour in the leather jacket is actually hard. I much prefer the harder armour. Ewww, til a crust forms?! Hahahahahha!!! Oh well, I'll just keep washing my trousers in the mean time, don't wanna damage my awesome jacket. Cheers

I should have been a member of this website before purchasing my biking clothes! Jacket too big problems: Immediately after getting my bike I bought a £130 Furygan jacket, which I was really happy with when I got it, however I chose one that was a slightly larger size (and a men's jacket) because I'm a massive wuss when it comes to cold, despite it having a remoooovable thermal layer, and thought I'd need the extra space for lots of layers. I now wish I'd have got a size smaller or a women's jacket, because I either look pregnant or like I've got odd boobs as it puffs out when sat on my bike! I didn't think to sit down when trying it on... ! It is an excellent jacket though and no doubt I'd wear it all through winter if my leather one gets too cold, just to get my money's worth haha! Joined clothing & soft VS hard armour At the BMF convention in Peterborough back in May I got myself a load of awesome kit very VERY cheap and I highly recommend others going to biker conventions like this and doing the same. I would never buy online, I can't imagine knowing whether clothing will fit or not without trying it on first. I bought some fabric trousers and a leather jacket, both for £50 (despite what it says on the labels in the photos), with CE approved protection. I don't think the mixture of fabrics looks wrong tbh, BUT I never considered until looking at this section on TMBF that if I come off, the clothing not being attached in some way means my jacket could ride up and expose skin in a slide, which wouldn't be great! I will now be looking into ways to make them both attach (this is where mums and nans come in handy, haha!). I have only just started wearing the leather jacket because I couldn't STAND the hard armour in it the first time I wore it. But I have really got used to it and the leather is becoming less stiff with more wear. And tbh I do feel much safer when wearing it - I can imagine if I came off my bike, the leather and harder protection would keep me safer than the Furygan jacket. It also looks the dogs bollocks, and when looking at other bikers I think leathers look cooler (despite it being made of cow - being an avid cow fan this isn't the most ideal thing in the world for me haha!). Also, I am a clean freak and have been washing the Furygan jacket, but I read on the information booklet that you can only do it so many times before it weakens the fabric - you don't really have that option with the leather! And finally - Questions: > Does anyone have experience or opinions on the difference between soft and hard armour in jackets? > Is there a good way of washing leather? I don't like wearing a sweaty jacket! > I accidentally found out today that the leather jacket I bought is probably intended for someone with a Suzuki GSXR bike, after I saw the same style 'R' on some dust caps online...what are people's opinions on bikers wearing clothes that don't match the make of their own bike?? It's not like I'm wearing a Harley jacket - I think that'd be more blatent! BUT does this annoy others like it annoys me when people turn up to a concert wearing a tshirt for A DIFFERENT BAND?!! Hahahaha! Hope you're having a fab weekend everyone Oh no! It's meant for a different bike *oh bollocks!* I <3 this jacket hiding the puffed bit! It looks worse when I've got both my feet up ridng along!

Cleaning baffles (to make my bike stop farting!)

I was just looking through my Mootorbike folder on my computer and saw my folder of all the bikes I contemplated before getting my Kymco, and the Suzuki Marauder was the first one on there! The next was a Kawasaki 125 eliminator cruiser which looks the bees knees, and before I realised it was a 900cc there's a Kawasaki VN -

Cool, that's good to know. And the Suzuki looks cool (not a touch on mine tho, lol!). What is it with people saying Chinese motorbikes aren't as good - considering I can only ride a 125 atm, the Chinese bikes are the best looking cruisers I could get with that size engine - mine has got a Honda engine, which is supposed to be more reliable too. And the AMOUNT of people who know nothing about bikes who have asked me if it's a Harley - I should just say "why yes, yes it is!" Hahaha! I just looked up both your bikes - which btw have the best names EVER!! The cruiser is out of this world!!!!!!!! LOVE the twin V engine, what colour have you got? And which bike do you prefer? I can see myself doing what you've done and getting a sporty and cruiser bike in the future! Do you use them both equally, or do you choose one bike over the other for different journies? -

Awesome, I'll get her lubed up then! Oh really - any types you can recommend? He wants to go cruiser-style like mine, would need to be 125 as he'll be doing his CBT at some point soon, and is currently coveting the same bike I was interested in before getting my Kymco: a Sinnis Vista 125 - Chinese again: http://www.sinnismotorcycles.com/motorcycle.php?motorcycle=Sinnis%20Vista%20125cc . I freaking LOVE the wheels on it most!! Mine are more like spokes, not nearly as sleek! And there's more chrome on the Sinnis than on mine I may call on you after we get married and pay you to do me a new exhaust cover - cheers for the offer. Is stainless steel much duller? What bike do you have btw? Have you got any piccies? -

Nah, I'm good to her, never left out in rain etc - only ever had to leave my bike in the rain overnight once and I hated it - kept thinking about it and wishing I'd brought my cover with me! I dry her off every time it rains too Thanks for the offer - I'd want to pay you for it of course. I'll leave it for the mo as we've got a really expensive few months ahead of us: moving house, getting married, honeymoon and getting a cat and likely getting my partner a motorbike too (he's insisting on brand new aswell...! lol!!!). But I'd like to replace it at some point because the exhaust has a large scratched area on it aswell as the rust on the back- I think the bike was in an accident before I got it. Is grease, vaseline or chain lube better than WD40? If so, I will do, thanks -

It was a blow-out! I've been slack lately- wedding planning and then we were told our rented flat is being sold and we have to leave in 8 weeks time (when we'll be on honeymoon)! Because of all this I've neglected my bike and not got round to investigating the dodgy noises. So on Saturday I viewed a cottage, bought wire brushes, then after she cooled down later I took the shell of the exhaust off, and after a bit of scrubbing and checking I found the culprit for the dodgy noises: a blow-out. I've just purchased a new exhaust from eBay following the link that megawatt sent http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221082137964? ... 1439.l2648 . I had contemplated getting the hold patched, but with all the corrosion I thought it best to dip into the wedding savings and buy a new one! I'll be replacing the exhaust as soon as I get it. Next thing - cleaning the inside of the exhaust cover. Should I scrub it til literally there is no rust left? Then maybe coat with WD40? Then after all this I'll be replacing the front tyre, tread's wearing thin . I've bought a Haynes manual too - so much to read and learn PS - is there a better way to attach files on here - so they are small-ish but when you click on them it hyperlinks to a new window where they're larger? Shell of the exhaust There's the blowout! And tonnes of corrosion. Oe of the metal bits to screw the outer shell into fell off in my hand too! Oh hello part of bike I haven't explored yet! -

Goddamn it, I never made it. I got lost...I was on my bike for 5 hours on Friday night (with many stops to try to sort out limp wingmirrors, read maps and 1 stop to try to work out how to fill tyres but wasn't sure so I left it!). The last hour was very dark in monsoon-like rain (okay, so that might be an exaggeration, but it was PISSING it down). I'm gonna spend more time looking into sorting out the rattle-y and occasional fart noises after my partner and I finish our wedding invites this week - I'm letting my bike take over my life a bit at the moment when there are more important things to do...booooo! Lol! How was it, I was looking forward to meeting you and all the other lovelies I've been talking to on here for the past week. Was it awesome? Am i going to cry?!? Proof I did try to get to the rally- I spent over an hour strapping my underlay/(yoga mat), sleping bag and tent down! -

It's 11 years old! But only done 3000 miles when I got it - I assume the last woman who owned it crashed and never rode it again - it was left in storage til I got it. Which is fine, but not so great when people assume I dented the tank and chrome! So yeah, it's pretty old, had it fully serviced in April. Altho it is rather likely I don't know what the hell I'm talking about and it's fine...I might ask more knowledgable people at the rally now I'm definitely going It just doesn't sound quite right. I'm glad I've got brekdown cover is all I can say, haha! See some of you at the rally hopefully, cheers for advice -

I was told it had a Honda engine or something. I just looked up motorbike silencer to see what it looks like, I'm still not sure... there's a couple of pics of my bike on flickr where you can see my exhaust v well ... hotostream. I will check youtube out tomoz, I'm off to bed now. Thankyou
