  1. I'm wondering if a compression test would give more information on this matter? Or even if the piston was naffed.. would it still show high compression?

-Also, never really messed about with the power valve.. dont know what to check for on that one :)

  2. 100!!! from a 125???

you must of had some serious tuning done to it or it has the wrong lable on it :?

my old RD400 just topped out at 105mph

Cagiva Planet, A Naked Mito, 2 Stroke, Them and RS's are known for their 100 capability.

(I passed my bike test, so im not just a L plate warrior :) Just waiting for insurance to go down so i can have my dads 1098!) :( I dont like waiting!! lol

  3. I'd love another 2 stroke, really miss them and had the best fun riding them compared to similar powered 4 strokes for sure!

Are you sure you've not caned it a little bit too much and possible blown a ring?

If that sounds like a possible cause, ring damage, then I could also check that out.. take the top end off etc...

Would the same gaskets be okay to use if i did this? or would i have to replace?

  4. lol This is turning into a general chat thread :P

I swear by 2 strokes for 125's, I cant stand car's overtaking me :/ (I use the bike everyday) and they would try to kill me on my journey, lol

Anyhow... Waiting for tech guys, Cheers ;) Tomorrow may check carb over again, makesure the powervalve is clean from exhaust emissions etc.

  5. Not many 125'poo 85 easily

Usually its 0-60 6 secs, top speed 105'ish (speedo out may apply here slightly)

Lol seriously though... It HAS something wrong with it at the moment :) Anyone with advise technically, it's much appreciated :D Thanks

  6. is this bike a 2 stroke?

    Yes, a 2 stroke.

I just took the carb out, inspected it.. seems fine. I checked the air filter etc.. all fine.. Hmph..

Could it possibly be the Power Valve? (Not sure how the power valve works exactly, apart from opening up on exhaust release etc...)

  7. sounds like a fueling issue. You got a hole in your zorst?

    blocked up air filter?

Will give it a check over for these, quickly fitting rear crankshaft oil seal to the car :) Will report back in a few mins!

  8. I don't have a rev counter.. so don't know the RPM, but its always when its high.. what should i do

you could try closing the throttle a little

sounds like you're reving the nuts off it!

what speed are you doing when it happens?

Been riding the bike for ages, I know the feel for what the bike can handle. The speed is approx 80-85 (over taking) and should go up near 100 but wont lately... I'm defiantly not revving the nuts of it ;)

do the revs stop going any higher when it does it ?

Cant tell... no rev counter.. but yeah, it seems they dont go higher...

  9. Okay, I am riding along.. and each time i hit high RPM the bike seems to sputter? Sound like pop corn when popping! lol I don't have a rev counter.. so don't know the RPM, but its always when its high.. what should i do / check for? Cheers.

  10. In response to some posts:

It is a Cagiva Planet 125.

I hope it is just the oil seals... I cant be bothered with more labor work on fixing internals.. ugh... :(

I guess I will see soon though..

    Cheers.

Edit: Also, these are the forks: Front: Upside-Down telescopic hydraulic fork (legs ø 40mm)

  11. its called a wheel spindle ;)

Yeah, Just found out lol! Thanks a bunch though :)

How much would you pay for one? (front only)

    Used and Brand new price?

    I can get a used for 20 quid (9.99, 9.99postage)

    Cant find brand new though..

  12. You know the front wheel.. and the two forks. If i was to take the wheel off, I have to unscrew a nut which attaches to a long pipe that goes through the wheels and forks, do you know what i am talking about? If so, what is that 'Pipe and nut' piece called?

    Cheers! :D

  13. Hmm, well, I was thinking of buying one of those bike lifts.. You know? Put it in the middle of the bike and pump it up.. my bike doesn't have a center stand, it should still work, right? Then i was going to take the fork off and take a trip into a shop to get it fixed :)

  14. Right, Cheers. The paddock stands, the front ones, don't they rest on the struts or not?

The wheels ;- I'm doing myself. Do spraying, I.E Spray my own car etc etc, did the car wheels, now bike wheels :)

  15. I'm in two minds if to do this or not... First my thought was "I give everything a go" But... I dont want to think i fixed it.. ride along, take a corner and POOF.... Hmph.. What would you say? I'm not a mechanic, but im very mechanical minded. I.E - Fixed my top end on the bike (full rebuild) and currently working on my car, dropping gearbox and doing clutch etc. (I find it all fine)

Would i be able to handle the fork? or just take it into a shop?

Also - What would be a good lift to buy? so i can take both wheels off (back and front) - Reason is, I'm spraying my wheels. Already done the front (hence finding out the strut is gone!)

    Thanks!

  16. My front fork (left) (upside down fork) can be pushed really easilly upwards (wheel is off the bike) whereas the other side is really stiff. there seems to be traces of oil on the 'so seemed naffed fork' am i right in guessing it is broke then? lol!

Also, can i fix it by replacing the oil seals etc etc? Cheers.
