Easter (long) weekend in Wales (with pics)
al_stu replied to nikolees's topic in Ride Reports and Pictures
Aww you rode right by me the oh, and I had the bike with me too if I'd have known I might have joined you for an hour or two. Looks amazing, very jealous -
Hi all I've been sent the below availability for the fire/ambulance first aid training course for bikers. I actually went on one in South Yorkshire in the end so won't be going to this one but they have spaces available still if anyone fancies going. It's a good bit of training/refresher on first aid and accident scene management and you get a load of the usual freebies too Hay Mills Community Fire Station on Fri 10th April at18:30. The course is 3 hours long and free. The postcode is B25 8HH If you email your details to [email protected] they can book you on You hope you never need to know it but if the worst happens it's good to be useful

I know it did cross my mind, but seems wierd to be intermittent. Id expect fuel to be constantly a bit off. Almost empty now so off to shell in the morning. Hope its just an iffy fuel. Have also put a tank bag on, i put a bit of camping mat underneath to avoid scratching the tank , but it seals tight around the fuel filler cap. Wondering if that's mucking things up?

Ok guys so first issues of the year! Thursday, did about 40 miles, filled the bike up and when I set off it kept juddering like it was going to stall. Pulled over, few good revs and it seemed fine. Fine all the way to her house...aanother 30 miles or so. This afternoon we set off and the bike (cold) is juddering really bad, like it's about to cut out, but doesn't actually stop. Stalled it once (must be me but didn't realise and adamant I didnt) but it started fine, after a mile or two hit nsl and it was fine for an hour. Stopped for a bit, set off (bike warmish still), all fine for 15 mins. Stop at bmw_daves for two minutes and bike won't start from hot. It starts then immediately dies. Start it and give it some revs and it's ok, stalls at the end of the road, starts again fine and then behaves for the rest of the day! Any ideas? No warning lights, bikes just had new plugs and filters all round. Petrol was tesco premium but I have used that before without issues, and wouldn't explain running fine once it was going. I wonder if it's the ecu going mad or fuel pump on its way out?

You can still get on the forum though so it's ok. I don't know what else you'd use the Internet for?

wind has taken down the fences both side of the garden. One side it's ripped the fence post in half so can't even just drop in a new panel. f**k IT
-
For the purpose of stopping the local scum it'll do. In reality if your bikes that nice and professionals want it, they'll have it regardless of what you do.
-
Debated it but dont need anything and think it's overpriced and a lot smaller than the NEC one in novenber
-
Hurray a new one!! Look forward to the rest!

Bluetooth ready usually means you can buy their bluetooth kit. Not any bluetooth kit. Its just a little cover on the helmet that can be removed to insert the main unit. Or at least that's my understanding.

Well I barely watch the bbc as it is. This could well be the end of it for me unless they figure out how to make a decent program and not put it on repeat every week for the next 5 years

You lot. Yes you. Southerners in posh cages. Derbyshire to Kent and back today. You tail gate, you swerve dangerously into tiny spaces with no indicators crossing 2 or 3 lanes at once at speeds well above the traffic around you. You never let me out. And there's so many of you I spent 2 hrs stuck on the m25 For no apparent reason. Arrrgh. So many nobs I can't remember them all. At least the bikers were friendly though, always waved when I moved over for them

I haven't been for a spin with them on yet. I vary 2 or 4 fingers when I'm riding. That's why I got the adjustable ones so I can change the length around and make sure I'm happy with it. Will let you know after I finish all the other jobs on the bike!

Hey guys 'revo' levers arrived and fitted. dead easy. Only questions - the levers didnt come with their own bushes (?) so on the clutch side I popped the old one out, oiled it and refitted to the new one. The brake side though, doesnt want to come out. Should it? The fit was snug when I put the new one in (i.e. a bast*rd to get in) so I dont see how it needs bushes as well? Anyway, heres some photos. The springs were a bit fiddly (was worried they'd ping off and never be seen again) but honestly it was a...twenty minute job. That was me being really careful as well, and triple checking everything. I got the 'adjustable' ones. The photos are at shortest length. adjustable ones arent as short as proper shorties, but will extend to longer than the long ones. Not sure if I'd have been better just getting the short ones, but at least this way I can meddle to find what I like (7 settings for size)

Thats what I thought Thats also what I thought (hence thought what a stupid idea to put a tube round the edge it must be for something else) Worse, I filed it under 'toolbox draw full of spare screws and ikea keys'
-
new screen arrived and fitted. took at least ooo 4 minutes? Has come with some plastic tubing, no idea what thats for. Presume behind the clocks but bike already has some. Did a highly technical 'perch next to bike as if riding' (no seat atm) and see what it looks like...should be miles better. Really didnt look like it would be any different until it was actually on the bike. So happy, as when came out of the box I was a bit like, uh oh, this was a bad purchase. old screen new screen

These were my other option - both say CNC. Although to be fair I am purely relying on the seller being honest when they say 'not made in China' http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141217953907?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Edit: Also seen these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REZO-Short-Ad ... 4ae2422d1d Have been doing some googling and what comments there are on chinese levers, is that you cant tell much of a difference between the branded and the cheap ones.

Call I got the other day 'Can you remember how to save addresses on my sat nav?' Bearing in mind I'm miles away, at work, and it's at least 6 months since I even sat in her car never mind played with the sat nav

I think the key is to avoid anything shupped from China or hong kong. Will get these next week and post some pics

Ha well fingers crossed I don't get heavy handed. Tbf uusually my problem is a reluctance to give it some welly. Like doing (car) Brake discs. I just won't ever be comfortable taking a lump hammer to the disc to get it off!
-
Oops looks my finger might slip and order them
-
Do you have any issues with short levers around finding it takes a lot more effort to pull the clutch/brake?
-
yes I've seen I can spend a lot more but this will be my third purchase for the bike in a week so best not push my luck... I did try to argue that the grippy pad for the pillion seat was not for me, but apparently the fact my balls are smashed into the tank every time I brake is my problem and she doesnt mind either way!!!

Hey Guys So I was going to treat the bike to a radiator cover, but it appears that the seller has gone AWOL. to be fair its a dinky company doing them for half the price of the 'normal' shop bought ones, and there's no mention of them in online forums for a few years so I'm not sure they are actually still trading. I didn't hand over any money so I'm not losing sleep. I therefore now have 50 quid of Mrs approved spending, burning a hole in my pocket. So I had a nosey at these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-SPRINT-ST-RS-2004-2009-Short-Adjustable-Brake-Clutch-CNC-Levers-Black-/281388830591?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item418414cf7f Watched a video online to fit, seems like the most ridiculously easy job to swap them out. Even I could do it! Is it really THAT simple? Two screws, bit of silicone grease and swap the end of the clutch cable over?

Ordered a power bronze db last night. Got an email from parcel force at lunchtime today telling me it had been picked up and was on its way!
