  1. It's difficult to suggest routes without knowing how many miles you want to do in a day, time to do tourist stuff, exploring places you get to and types of roads you like. You might need to do some google homework on these roads. South Queensferry, Powmill milk bar (passes Knockhill race circuit), Crieff, Lochearnhead, Crainlarich, Tyndrum (Green Welly Stop), Crainlarich, Balloch (bottom of Loch Lomond), Stirling, South Queensferry. 180ml/4hr20min At Crieff, miss out lochearnhead, add Aberfeldy then Crainlarich, adds 25ml/40mins. At Tyndrum, there's a 100ml loop through Glencoe, Appin, Connel, up to Oban, back by Lochawe, Tyndrum. 100ml/2hrs30min. South Queensferry, Perth (35ml motorway), Blairgowrie (fill with petrol here), Braemar, Granton on Spey, 130ml/3hr16min, back to SQ on the A9 (average speed cameras), 132ml/2hr25min. Or if someone can chime in with suggestions for turning right at Granton on Spay, I have no knowledge of these roads. South Queensferry, Galashiels, Selkirk, Moffat, Leadburn, South Queensferry. 150ml/4hrs #at least 1/2 this route has 50mph limits, although Selkirk to Moffat is narrow in bits so 50mph is enough.
  2. This is a blow-up of the headlight relay. The diagram of the plug are usually drawn looking in from the rear of the plug.
  3. Your right that a lower rate is better for a lighter person but would be better getting advise from a professional. Google "motorcycle suspension specialists near me" and you will get a list of professionals who, for about £70/£80, will set your suspension to suit your weight and riding style, advise you on what could be made better and how much it would cost. This is usually a ride in, ride out service. Have a look at an R6 Forum to see what others have done or who they got to carry out they're work. The front and rear suspension should match each other, probably rear spring first, as long as the shock is operating as it should. The front can be adjusted by altering oil thickness and air gap, before having to change the internal springs or valves.
  4. I know it's to late for this advice. I start my bikes monthly over the winter and run through the gears while warming them up, it gets oil between the clutch plates and around the gears. Easier when you have a center stand.
  5. I would check and get the suspension set up for your weight first. Raising the rear or lowering the front will sharpen up the steering and vice versa. If you are light and the rear suspension is too stiff, it will make the steering twitchy.
  6. My Honda Blackbird front sprockets have free play, my ZZR1400 doesn't. The Blackbird sprocket is held on by a flanged bolt and the ZZR sprocket is held on by a nut and a locking tab washer which fits over the splines on the shaft. If you clean up the splines on the shaft and the old sprocket, you might find that there is a bit of free play. You should apply some Molygrease to the splines when you fit the new sprocket, this will stop "brinelling", the red dust you find when you take the sprocket off.
  7. What year is the bike? Maybe add something in the photo for a reference as to the size.

  9. If you disconnect the regulator/rectifier and it stops blowing fuses, it could be the alternator/stator
  10. The wiring diagram is in the last pages of the operators manual. Here's a link to download the manual. What they call the "choke" is the Kill Switch. There's a Tiger Euro 3 listed in the Archives bit. Manuals - Zontes Motorcycles
  11. The 30A fuse feeds the regulator/rectifier with the r/w wire. Also the ignition switch and fuse box with the red wire. Unplug each one to see when it stops blowing the fuse, ( you can use smaller fuses to test as long as you don't turn the ignition on).
  12. Its reported this morning that the government are not considering graduated driving licences, for cars, as they have in Canada and Australia, as it would be unfair to younger people. We have had a graduated system for motorcycles for years, why not cars?
  13. Fit half an earplug under the nut, you cant get a full one in. This holds the nut up, so you can get the screw started and dosn't damage the threads if they stick through the bottom of the nut.
  14. I use Pinlocks now, but in the passed I have used dry soap, rubbed on the inside of the visor then polished off. Then I upgraded to some pink stuff I bought at a motorcycle show, I'm sure it was paraffin based, a wax stick. Same as the soap, rub on and buff off, both worked fine but needed to be re-applied through-out the day.
  15. Signed. Tired of watching police programs on the TV where you see the scrotts commit the crime on film, and at the end some voice-over comes on " the case didn't continue for lack of evidence". I saw it, it was on the fkn film!!!!
  16. Just put up with the alarm noise and change the battery, 2 to 3 minutes at most.
  17. Oil and filter change on the ZZR1400, took the silencers off for a good clean and makes in easier to remove the swing-arm, rear shock and linkage. Will give them a clean and grease all the bushes and bearings. Four years old and not been done, they get done every two years from now on.
  18. Work at other depots was really slow, I was usually really busy. One of my bosses decided it would be a good idea to start flexi-time. If the depot was quiet you would get told you had half or a full day off, midweek,( not your choice), but you may have to work a Saturday at straight time to make up the 40 hours before you went on to time and a half. When I was told, I said great, I'm really busy, on a good week I can have 40 chargeable hours in by Wednesday night, I can take the rest of the week off!!! Flexi-time was never mentioned again.
  19. If it's possible, leave the light off till you get to the test station. There's an chance the heat from the bulb will distort/shrink the tape. A permanent fix would be to make up a new deflector with the bias the other way.
  20. Fitted a 2012/16 Fireblade rear shock to the 07 Blackbird. 20mm spacer and longer bolt in the top Bird bracket to get the length right. Cable tie around the expansion bottle neck to stop it floating about. This'll give me a fully adjustable shock to play with when the weather improves.
  21. Forums, bike meets, local dealers or biker friendly coffee shops, you need to visit these places and just get talking to people. If you visit places often enough you see the same people each week and get to know them. Your local dealer might tell you of people with similar bikes and age and where they meet up. The link is for bike meets in your area. Biker Friendly Places Southampton | Cafes, pubs, hangouts, etc...
  22. Really interesting, I'll read the whole thing when I have time. Interested to read about articles being removed from sale on internet platforms if they didn't meet standards. I fitted a cheap set of brake pads to the Blackbird, (if you don't try, you don't know). They were excellent, as good as OEM and others I've tried. When I went to get another set, they were no longer listed.
  23. There was an addition to the MOT regulations about changing to brighter bulb systems, 01/01/23, Motorcycle LED Lights: UK Laws (2023) changing was not allowed, and under section 4.1.4.b and would be an MOT failure. This was amended two months later, 01/03/23, [Withdrawn] MOT special notice 01-21: headlamp conversions - GOV.UK, 4.1.4.b (you need to scroll down) and motorcycles were exempt and the rule "Not in use". As long as your conversion dips and does not dazzle oncoming drivers when tested at the MOT, it'll pass. The rule still applies to cars.
  24. A bit late I know, but the best way to remove tight brake pistons is fit a grease nipple to the fluid inlet and pump them out. Slow, controlled and you can get 6000lb/in pressure
  25. Make sure the air ducts are all connected properly from the front duct to the air filter cover. Leaking or poor connections can effect air fuel ratios at mid range.
