  1. Yup, We're off at the crack o' dawn tomorrow. Look out for a transit van surrounded by, 2 X R1200GS, a SV650, a Z800, a 600 Bandit and maybe a couple of others.
  2. I've been to see 'Tony Archer' very nice people. I will get back with a report soon (hopefully trying out a new seat this weekend for a trip to Mallory park)
  3. Superb! not that far from my house! Thanks very much.
  4. Thanks guys, That Saddleman looks great, but I've run out of money for time being. (I've just put the official hard pannier set on! ) Cycle shorts eh? I'll investigate. It's my tail bone which is really suffering.
  5. That's a good idea. However I'm not that will work with the GS 'trail' style bars?
  6. Ok, so I've started doing some 300+ mile Sunday rides to prep up for my grand tour to Spain in August. My bike is a superb BMW R1200GS, I love it. However I appear to have developed a sore 'tail bone' Something that's never happened before on other bikes? I'm considering trying a cheap gel seat or maybe one of these 'Airhawk' comfort cushions It's my age Any help or suggestions please?
  7. Any more news on this bike? I like the story so far!
  8. Buy new, From a proper dealer, Make sure it fits properly, Make sure its fastened securly. Then look at design, style, cost! etc. The SHARP web page may not be perfect, but it's an independent step in the right direction. I just don't buy it that a £400 helmet is ten times better than a £40 helmet (FOR SAFETY) However you will (probably) be buying a better quality product, lets hope so eh! Saying that I did spend over £200 on my helmet, hypocrit The Caberg 'Duke' looks like a great value buy. Has all the attachments, is Italian made, cheap'ish, and scores 5 stars on the SHARP survey!
  9. Just come back from a full weekend away on the bikes. Into the Welsh mountains. The bikes are a bit dirty but weather was on the whole very nice indeed. Good company and good food/beer, Great! I spend most Saturdays working on motorbikes, so although I may not get away on my bike I do get to ride bikes! YBR125's and 50cc scooters!
  10. I've got a Ghost Drift, it's a lovely bit of kit. Very well made and finished. Nice and small (although I still feel like a dalek with it on top of my helmet) I cannot compare with other makes i'm afraid, this is the 1st camera I've owned. (the money was burning a hole in my pocket) If i'm honest it's probably too good for me, as i'm not techno savy enough to explore it's full potential. As a product, I'm very happy with it.
  11. It's the bike-bike comms that interests me really. Going over to Europe in August with a couple of mates, and I'm thinking it may well be useful?
  12. Drift Ghost HD for me too. only just arrived, so yet to try it out. My mate has one, and the quality is superb. However its not cheap. The intention was to record my great European tour in August. But as others have said, I may consider it everyday use! Maybe have a seperate SD card for mundane trips, and just keep deleting the files when it gets full?
  13. Looking good so far then! Thanks, and keep me posted on the test ride with your partner, please.
  14. Please give us a review of these, I'm just about to invest in this technology, but I'm a little bewildered by it all So an honest review would be great. Thanks Tim
  15. The most important part of picking your helmet is fit. If it's too tight, then you wil loose concentration if it gets uncomfortable. If its too 'baggy' then spending £400+ won't make any difference, it will still fall off in force of an impact. Your primary concern needs to be safety, and COST does not necessarily mean better safety. Agreed, a top quality helmet will give you great features, and comfort. But not always protection. Just pay a visit to the sharp.gov web page to see some very interesting results. I got my 13yo daughter (a very infrequent visitor to the pillion on my bike) a Box helmet for £40, it scores four stars for safety and she likes the colour! My personal helmet is a Shark, it cost me over £200, but again scored four star for safety, but it offers a better quality, comfort, and sound resistance, over the cheap (but safe) Box helmet. The Caberg 'Duke' is quite cheap, £140'ish, it's a flip front style that has passed both EU tests for being worn either open or closed. It scores a mighty five stars on the Sharp web page. When I was younger I would only ever buy Arai helmets, but I wonder if they trade a little on a perceived reputation. A bit like Stella Artois beer selling its product "reasuringly expensive"
  16. Has anybody tried or even owned a 'BUHEL D01 BLUETOOTH' system? Also the D02 for bike to bike chat. I tried one of these out yesterday, at the Manchester show. I was very impressed, but it was only standing next to the guy at the show! I'd be interested on feedback peeps
  17. Ha! the web page is a bit crap isn't it! Sunday mornings (10:00am) are when they meet up. I'm away this weekend, sadly.
  18. Hi guys/gals http://www.oddiesmotorcyclegroup.co.uk/ The above group of bikers are a pretty nice bunch. I started riding with them a couple of months back. Quite a mature lot, and a good mix of riders. Lady bikers and youngsters on pillion too! Check out the 'contact' page. Tim
  19. Hi Margaret, Shark helmets seem to fit most (if not all) of your criteria. They score well on the SHARP tests, and accommodate spectacles, blue tooth etc. As stated by other posters, THE most important thing is fitting corectly, AND remember to fasten the bloody thing!
  20. The Lee Rigby, Bike, Trike & Scooter Show + Family Fun Day. Boarshaw WMC, Boarshaw Rd, Middleton, Manchester, M24 2GB. 12 Noon till Midnight. Saturday 24th August. Loads of different bike categories, only £2 to enter your bike. Loads of prizes. A raffle, kids stuff (face painting etc) Food and beer! live music, 60's, disco, modern, a good mix Traders. ALL funds raised to go to the family of Lee Rigby. Thanks for looking Tim
  21. Check out this official gov web page for helmet 'safety' http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/ You'll be surprised how good and how bad some helmets score! (I got a Box BX1 for my daughter, aged 12, for £35, it scores four stars for safety. Her relatively low usage of the helmet makes this a great buy) However, if your ALSO after quality and longevity in a helmet then yes Shoei and Arai are excellent brands. It's safe to assume a longer and more comfortable life from these 'famous' names, but NOT necessarily better safety.
  22. what do you call a dear with no eyes AND no legs?? . . . . . . . . 'still' no f**king idea
  23. "my dad's sat nav ran out and I needed a wee and some grub on my way to the rally last year, before I got horribly lost and horribly wet!" I hope the 'wee' and getting horribly wet wern't connected????
  24. I think i'd better start saving up my spends
  25. Started looking at the massive choice in gloves today (and that's just summer/sport style gloves) I've fallen in love with the Knox Handroid's But are they any good? Most reviews are very favourable, but the odd niggle on stitching quality has reared its head, and one review mentions the white leather dye as actually rubbing off onto the handlebar grips! These comments, to be fair are on earlier gloves; they have been out a while now and should have got over any teething problems. So my question is, do any of you guys/gals own these gloves, or indeed know anybody who owns them? before I spend £150 on a pair
