  1. So you have a air filter on the carb as well as the airbox? You dont need both, it will be struggling for air as you are finding. Is there any adjustment on the auto choke? There is usually some position screws. It maybe that its not quite right for the carb, old carb may have require less motiom to open? Maybe?
  2. Chains last a lifetime compared to belts so i hope i never have to find out and worry about one (fingers crossed) the job im not looking forward to is valve clearances but ill prob get a dealer to sort that otherwise ill have to buy a load of shims ill never use again. I refuse to work on cars at work, vans are bad enough, they too fiddly. Yh ups and downs for both, why cant things last a lifetime
  3. Im out tomos with a friend if he picks up his phone if not ill be rolling solo
  4. Service on my car takes 20 mins, and thats being generous draining oil. But anything else the stupid engine bay is so tight it makes simple jobs ridiculous. When i did my cambelt you have to drop the engine and one arm over the wing and one under the wing. I would rather work on my bike anyday! Its time consuming work but easy
  5. Putting on and taking off you should be pulling straps outwards this alone will help. If not it sounds like you need to find another lid, not everyone has a shape head for every helmet. You may find one make fits proper and the rest dont
  6. Im useless at organising anything
  7. Im here and in the middle part of country but over in lincolnshire and most mids people are brummy way
  8. My old gixer was like this, just to lut a tail tidy on required some modification, so i did this as a stop gap until i bought a new undertray that replaced everything so i could tidy it all up
  9. Only when they have parked their over the top chelsea tractor on the yellow zig zags
  10. I have thought the same, and will prob end up getting one to try, like you say protection wise npt as good butbetter than being a squid. Although to everyone else it will just look like a normal hoodie
  11. Take it back pal, they either bot done the job properly or not at all, either way they should sort it. As for tight steering, sounds like tight headstock, find out if they had it off for some reason
  12. Have you restored a bike before? If yes then you will be familiar with the time money and effort aspect if not then imo although a freebee this maybe a lil too much to chew. Sourcing the no end of fiddly bits and pieces to get that into a good condition and on the road could be the end of the road for you. You dont want to scare yourself away from restoring before you start. I picked up a pegaso 650 that had been stood 8 years in a garden and its slow going already sourcing miscellaneous bits but the bike is complete so i have patterns for parts ect. Just something to think about
  13. Well done, congrats. What bike you getting
  14. It is a.............. Lot of effing work Sorry im no help but looks like its a decent retro bike,
  15. Enie menie miney mo. Only joking, pilot road tyres are a great buy and suit all bike and riding types. The 3 is as good as the four imo unless your name is tom sykes. Both will out perform you and keep you confident when leant hard over or riding in the wet. They last well too.
  16. Dont know the bike personally so didnt know it was 2 stroke sorry
  17. Worn piston rings
  18. So have the banned sales of all 3 confederate flags? Daft if you ask me, they will just buy them elsewhere. Its like banning sales of st George cross, because we have a gb flag and the edl use it for their own purposes. Although inpractical now but surely a gun amnesty/ ban would be better
  19. no faulty earths cause all sorts of spooky symptoms
  20. Yeah you can use not a prob but now you know what to start with just get on it as soon as you can. You will struggle to move with fingers indeed, unless your the hulk. A tin of brake cleaners and nut and bolt will see you good, time taken doing this will prolong life
  21. You may find its brake dust clogging the disc rollers. You clean them out then it will sit true and straight ">
  22. Yes its a £30 fine and no points but its the same for motorbikes too, imagine how cool we would look riding along with no lid but a pair of ray bans instead. And all for just £30 per ride. Its a safety thing, call me over causious but imo all 2 wheeled transport should require a helmet including ordinary pushbikes. No offence meant but wearing a helmet and wrecking your street cred on a velosolex is the least of your worries, its a velosolex? Each to their own at the end of the day
  23. Could stuff like that happen on a bike this young? Its only done 2000 miles? Depends how its been ridden or maintained. They are all servicable items and wear at different rates. Chain tension is most obvious, have you had bike from new? If not then someone may have changed sprockets for acceleration
  24. As stu says, only loaned amount to pay and no interest. Just bare in mind you wont have paid off as much as you would have thought because interest is front loaded on finance.
  25. Have you checked your cush drives? Drop the wheel out and chexk them of they are worn you will see this happen. Other than that things like chain tension, lubrication ect will help. Has the sprockets been changed? If they have that can cause a more agressive throttle
