  1. Don't use the electric ones as they arnt as foolproof as some may think. Even the snap on reps one was out by 15nm yet my Sealy one only by 2nm. Your best off with a manual one imo unless you use it on a very regular basis as there is nothing more frustrating than going to use it after a few months and the battery is dead. Also do you wind off your torque wrench after every use? As not winding off will nakker one up in no time
  2. Lol, was nearly a year ago however
  3. There is no evidence that a 50 quid helmet is any less safe than a 1k lid. You pay for design and matirials used ect. What you will find is the fit and like what rant says the finish quality. For example I have a 45 quid ls2 helmet for work (mechanic so it gets very dirty from my head) it's great design feel weight ect, but the fit is slightly off, wind noise is unbareable on longer rides and vent is next to useless but it has pinlock. Then my other helmet is agv cost 120 quid, don't believe it's any safer but it's a better fit, vents are good quality feel and work, visor moves easier and less wind noise. As long as you purchace from a reputable trader you should be ok with an origional. I would reccomend a known brand and with that you will be fine.
  4. Mine took just over a week and was back
  5. Must be pulling your dongle
  6. Make sure your chain tension is correct firstly, if it is then maybe look at your cush drives if they ok then don't worry it's normal
  7. On YouTube watch twist of the wrist. Long but packed full of good info bit cheesy
  8. Good to hear your still discovering routes. Cool pics
  9. Well done on mod 1. My test was origionally half 10 or something so I thought I had time for a lesson before, arrived at the training center only to be told the guy I had been training with needed a lesson before the test quite bad so would I mind going at 8:45 I just thought Yh I'll get it over with. Rode a few mins to the center had a fag and done the test, passed. Although a warm up is nice it shouldn't be nessesary if you have had sufficient training, good luck all the same pal
  10. Not going to say until I have had a good go at getting a deal will speak again and failing that have a word with someone else who wants to sell bikes. Not had any probs there before with silly rates. It was over the phone Friday so I'll go face to face. Still struggling to get a decent insurance quote though so it's only half my problem really, problem with not riding at least a year
  11. Bike salesman....... Thinks I was born yesterday quoting me £119 per month on less than a 3k balance and says there isn't any movement on it and a low px value. Obviously he has reached his targets and doesn't need to sell bikes

    Servicing?

Never had a service book stamped, I begrudge paying an apprentice to do something I can do. Oil filters pads ect most people should be able to do it's just carb balancing that is a grey area but if you know that too I say do it. Good luck with your bike hunt, you know what bike your after
  13. Die grinder or dremel
  14. I don't mod with the intention to be individual I just do it to suit me better. But then saying that all I have changed on mine is levers and rear undertray, to make it look more modern and tidy and shorter levers for comfort. I believe in using the bike how I want and if my resale is affected because of something I done it's a cost for the joy imo
  15. Use a test light and poke it into the wire and see where there is power. Are they stop tail bulbs or separate?
  16. Good luck on your next lesson, glad your keeping at it
  17. I don't know mate. Who is likely to stand an ogle a Bonnie? Not me unless its a proper pre 70's one. Its a Bonnie (Well its a Bonnie in name alone) . Why Triumph decided to use this name on such a bland and average bike is beyond me. They should have used the name on a rip snorting fast bike (as the originals were). But after watching the Australian video review of the Bonnie all I see now when I look at one is the f***ing stupid head steady bracket at the back of the engine. I find all the twin range of Triumphs the most uninspiring range of bikes to look at. As I have said before Kawasaki got the "classic" looks right and so much better than Triumph with their W800 bike. Not me personally but I know many that would. Maybe it's not an origional no but it's part of the cult and it's for people who want a bonnie but don't want to have to repair it after and during every journey.
  18. Chinese bikes........
  19. How did this end? I have just read through the thread and sound like your having a dog end of a time. I feel for you. If I was you already with a cbt and bike I would have been going out with an experienced rider friend who could iron out any issues. I see you keep refrencing people who done a week's course, pass and can ride what they like, or carry passengers, and don't need to take any further brush up lessons, this is because they have jumped through the hoops, paid all the monies and proved they can ride safely and to a certain standard on the roads, but you never stop learning. If carrying passengers is that important to you then keep up with the tests ect but as you already drive why not take some time build some road craft and attempt your test again but on a larger bike, the only thing you should find harder is the slow manouvers you can't throw it around like you do a 125.
  20. Was more to satisfy the other poster really, I know your post wasnt telling him he is doing the wrong thing just basically saying you wouldn't do it.
  21. Sorry mate I didn't know you were only interested in opinions that you agree with. But I stand by what I said. Buy a better bike. Not a lard arsed Bonnie. Oh and stu said this So are you going to have a go at him for having the same opinion? Don't normally get involved in people's debates but can't help it on this. And goes for stu aswel. The point as it seems isn't to create an r1 killer or do a micheal Dunlop round the tt it's a modern interpritation of the ton up boys from back in the day which you should be familiar with. The old cafe racers who would tune their bikes within an inch of their life for the fun of it, the cult the history the nostalgia. He obviously likes the bonnie and wants a little more grunt out of it, and like tango said who is going to stand and oggle a bandit...... What your saying is right in the respect that he could go and spend a grand and go balls out but anyone could do that. Chavs in their lowered cars with drainpipes out the back is a whole different kettle of fish that has done my nut in for years but they are people that don't have a clue tbf
  22. Usually because unlike a car where you can get away with a lesson every week or so, on a bike there is so much to take in they havnt got the time to have a refresh every time you get there to get you used to the bike again. Best thing to do is do your theory, then get yourself along for an assessment which is about an hour, and they will reccomend what length course, you may only need the half week course
  23. Good bike gear costs monies whether textile or leather. For sm textile would prob suit and look better imo but it's up to you, it's also a lot more versatile for all riding. I bought cheaper textile gear and although I havnt tested out it's ability to look after my skin it didn't hold up too well in a washing machine so that prob spells trouble. I now go by the motto 'buy cheap buy twice' And with that in mind the price of leathers vs textiles is a very even playing field. Coming off at 30mph (which is entirely pos on a 125) you want some decent gear that you can trust.
  24. The reflector is up the right way isn't it? And bulb in correct way
  25. We have had some spot on weather this year, yes also some not so good but on the whole it's been hot
