  1. As the title suggests... I want to ride to Scotland and think I could fit it in Easter days. I will be doing this alone and I don't mind not visiting the cities, that could be done another time with company. I want to ride as many GOOD roads as possible and I'd like to go as North as possible. So: - How many days should I target as minimum? Mind you, I can do up to 500 miles on a day but I don't want this to be another commute on motorways- I've had enough of it. I was thinking leaving Wednesday evening, spend the night with friends in Liverpool and start Thursday morning from there and be back in London Tuesday late night. - Should I book accomodation in advance? I was thinking just to hit the road, see how each day goes and decide then where I could stay. Are those days high-season-ish for Scotland? - What about speed cameras up there? - What about tyre wear in such a journey? I've got a Bridgestone BT016 for almost 2K miles now and the way I see it, it could be another 2K or more going there. Do you think I can make it last? Any advice is welcome.
  2. in deed... i thought that whoever rides is happy

  10. I totally feel for you!! I wrecked my first one after only 5 weeks and was left without a bike for 4 months - almost got crazy. When I wrecked my second one I was left without for 2 months- same here. Hope it doesn't happen to me again! Get a bike soon!
  11. Got back yesterday through Macclesfield-Buxton and it was great, scenery and road! And I was fortunate enough not to have rain until I got past it...but then it was another 3 hours of rain and wind and spray on the M1... Strongly recommended for anyone that hasn't been there.
  12. Ok, I did it... but I was very dissapointed to notice how much my brake calippers have been worn from salt!! And it smelled as I was having a bbq for the first 30 miles!!
  13. Not as impressive and it didn't hurt physically... ">
  14. Hi guys, I'm riding to Liverpool tomorrow after work. So starting from WD6, rather late. There seem to be M1 and M6, which one should I take? I'm just interested in getting there as early as possible and avoid traffic/roadworks. On the other hand, I want to come through Peak District on return; any thoughts on that??
  15. I was browsing today and run into this, seems useful http://www.motorcyclescotland.com/routes/ and also this, if you're looking for accomodation http://www.motogoloco.com/

  19. South East England, Chalet Cafe And after that I headed down to Worthing but had forgotten to write down where I had to take a picture!!! I got so close, less than a mile...I guess we can't count this as a valid Sea Lane Cafe picture (can we??? ) Anyway, it was nice seeing the sea after some time.
  20. I just smiled passing by as I remembered last week's polite Phil's video!!! But I just noticed on the picture, is it £35 for a vest???!!!wtf??
  21. Well, no matter how much you love her, you can't wipe her everytime you come back from commuting, but hey ho!! And of course there's always the difficulty of having your fairings on (I'll undress her and cover the internal parts as well as I can)
  22. Cheers guys, I'll give it a go a.s.a.p.!! Do you do every metal surface??even brake discs and chain? do you also do the chain and if so before or after chain lube?
  23. Went down there today. It was nice, a bit crowded until 4, it was easier to move around after. I was expecting more in terms of bargain-offers (not that I looked for many things, I only had in mind to search for Arai) and I'm not sure that the ticket of £20 is reasonable, but it's London after all. The slide show with McGuinness, Whitham, Walker was very good. The best thing (and I would never imagine saying that) was the Rossi MotoGP bikes collection.
  24. Hi all, has anyone used this or anything similar??? http://www.acf-50.co.uk/motorcycle.htm seems that winter/moisture are taking their toll on my bike and I need to find a way to use it during winter with as less harm as possible.
