  1. I was out for a couple of hours today on the rain. I enjoyed my ride think I need to recoat the or did of my visor or do you always get some rain sticking?

Whilst looking at the visor I notice I have some most between the pinlock and the visor. Will it dry out?

Can you remove a pinlock? How?

Do you need to clean them?

    Thanks..

  2. Rode to a shop today I know does not sound like allot. Tackled 3 roundabouts I was not looking forward to dual carriage way jobs one is not even round, more peanut shaped all consecutive.

They recommended muckoff visor anti mist spray and nikiwax visor proof anti rain stuff...

Seemed to work well but have now fitted a pinlock so will see how it goes tomorrow.

Oh and had to stop myself speeding all day, seems my confidence is up. My cornering improving, probably time for a fall :crybaby:

    Thanks for help.

  3. I live in an area where we famously hate cycles:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2604814/Bike-ride-saboteurs-sprinkle-DRAWING-PINS-peaceful-New-Forest-road-local-villagers-complain-scourge-cyclists-tranquil-area.html

With good reason, in the summer you add 50% on top your journey time for bikes and tourists.

Individual events like this are all very good but on the Forest most weekends in summer and the of winter one you have one group or other taking over.

Volkswagen's, landrovers (yes I have one), steam engines, vintage cars, vintage bikes, classic bikes, classic cars and so the list goes on.

Before you even mention routine caravans and motorhomes (which come second only to cycles).

The problem is for the more popular villages there is an event just about every weekend.

Then the of Lycra class wanna bee's trying it on stopping the traffic as they see fit. Randomly all year you can spend 10-15 minutes stuckbehind a group of cyclists.

It can get very frustrating. I don't mind the ones that jump on and of pavements and other other stunts if it helps the flow of traffic. At least there objective is to go from a2b.

Gaggles of them on roads just make you want to......

It comes down to consideration for all road users... And no I ain't perfect I know that

    .

  4. Moo. Thanks for the tip I have never closed my visor fully as soon as I stop it fogs. Next time I will try stopping breathing  .

On this occasion even when I stopped having ridden with it open it was fogged. Do you get days where the weather creates these effects?

I think this visor has pin lock two plastic pegs sticking out from the visor either side.

  5. After the rain today I went for a ride...

Well as dusk came near I misted up, my main visor misted totally inside and out. Having in built sun visor I used that until I could stop and clean the visor. Even once cleaned it kept happening...

I have a HJC TR-1 helmet. I believe it has pin locks and I believe I need a Pin Lock anti fog insert

Is there anything else I can do?

  6. There used to be a waterproof road atlas for bikes......but I don't know if it's still available.....or get a small tankbag with a map window......

Sadly your atlas seems to be last printed 15 years ago :( I have Googled tank bag some home work required there, my YBR has the plastic bits sticking of the tank. With a glove compartment and handy atlas it should do the job.

I have no objection to buying another map if its been used...

Electronically I guess I am trying to avoid, its very good at telling you the quickest route but is that the best route?

Given the route in hand Google is right. Romsey Winchester A34 all the way, on a 125 that's no fun, that's the route a car is for.

By bike my guess is Romsey, the Wallops, Tidworth, Hungerford, Wantage, A34 to finish off.

Not certain how co Pilot works but with the route planners I have used its no use when it keeps saying recalculating turn right to A34.

  7. Google maps is good but poor reception or flat battery and its gone can any on recommend a pocket size atlas for biking?

What got me thinking this is 3 days in and my good lady thinks I should visit her, New Forest to Just north of Oxford on a 125cc. My thinking is treat it as a full day out avoid the A34 till at least north of the M4 and probably till near oxford. What I think I need is a map that I can use to plan and take with me. I know how to get there by various routes but they all tend to end up on the M4 or A34 neither are good on a 125 with an L plate.

Now being a 4 wheel type person for years I very early on adopted a SatNav and its been joked I cannot find my way of the drive without it. I used to do miles without one but I have got Lazy....

    All advice Appreciated...

  8. As none bike I think the the equipment you are looking for is:

Hand held radios with ear piece and a function called VOX (Voice activated transmission). They are never very good and you do get what you pay for you can spend allot of money and find it does not work for you.

These radios not the greatest but might do the job

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2PCS-Retevis- ... 1270010088

There are others but I thought the pink might annoy your man :D

The problem is no ear piece, as soon as Google starts looking the price hits £80 odd for a pear....

The thing is I don't know if these will fit the above radios?

    http://www.radiocoms.co.uk/shop?gclid=C ... p/33179849

They might not even need VOX radios they might do it the selves...

A couple of calls/ messages to the people who sell the stuff might help....

    These might do the job????

  9. I am not going to pass the name of the first school, maybe it was a bad day or the wrong combination of students. Either way it was not a good day, I have heard good reports of them.

A different school that could take me today in fact I was the only one so it was one on one. We met up on the training ground and started straight away. After lunch we where on the road, a few maneuvers and a ride to a view point for a cup of tea.

A good day the biggest criticism I got was being slow turning of the indicator.

On the way home I stopped at a shop recommended by the instructor with the idea of trying on some gear, maybe picking up a helmet. Walked out with Jacket, Gloves, salopette trousers (2nd hand) and a skid lid. The instructor was happy enough with the boots I had for now but will be keeping an eye out some on Ebay...

Now its time to get a bike!

Any one know of a 125 going in the New Forest Area? I have my eye on a couple plan to view one tomorrow morning if not it will be the end of next  ...

  10. A very disappointing day, a trainee Instructor and 2.5 (well ok 3 people for 1/2 the day) people on the course... We got as far as doing figure of 8's. No U turns, no emergency stops and no road ride so no CBT achieved today....

I can continue the course with the same school I started with but not certain when I can match there days again. It will cost 1/2 as much again.

Due to personnel stuff and work I cannot book weeks in advance, so can anyone recommend a school that is local that can do a CBT at short ish notice. I am free this Saturday and maybe 30th or 31st October after that I have not got a clue....

Local being Hampshire, Dorset or Possibly South Wiltshire if I do not keep the ball rolling I will never get there.

Edit to add the IOW maybe be possible to.

  11. Its happening on Friday,

Now I need some cloths, well actually I need a jacket...

They recommend a tough jacket they will supply the rest.... The problem is I have nothing and promised my good lady that I would buy nothing until I passed my CBT.

So I need a cheap as jacket suitable for Friday plus a few extra days, I will buy more as I go suggestions please....

All going well looks like Saturday and Sunday will be a big shopping days bike hat gloves trousers etc...

  12. London is *littered with them*. May have got flashed twicesince I mooved here on roads that really shouldn't be 30's...no letters come through...I'm one lucky lady. And I really don't ride fast! Crazy careful now

YOur Lucky I got done in Dorset, I really did not think I was speeding. Would not mind but I was in a Landrover at the time, towing a caravan.
