  1. *Waterproof Mount for a GPS/Mobile Phone (I will be doing the occasional journey that requires me to have some guidance so I'm not looking for anything high in price.)

*Adjustable Levers (Are they worth it?)

*Helmet intercoms (something cheap, cheerful, and reliable. A friend said he got a Bluetooth pair for £50 that work great but can't remember where he got them from. They could be paired to either communicate with your pillion or even make/take a phone call and even music from his iPhone.)

    To fit a Honda CBR500R 2014.

  2.

troy how you getting on? if you need some advice on getting threw your tests meassage me ill get back to you, i passed my theory cbt mod 1 mod 2 all in the space of 3 weeks ill try help u mate

Hi! Sorry for the delayed response, I don't visit these forums very often.

Not much has changed since. I got to pay for a renewed CBT in the next 2-3 weeks, then will have two or three more lessons again before I rebook for my MoD1. I will get out on my 125 as much as I can until then so I will (hopefully) become a better rider in general. With the weather showing a prettier face at the moment, I'm trying to use it to my advantage and get out on the bike more.

  3. Well.... I failed.

Nerves got the better of me. I was shaky which didn't help. I began to feel myself losing stability and balance during the figure-of-8 and also the U-Turn, this caused me to put my foot down. I knew I had blown it after the second time my foot hit the floor. The rest of the course was fine. Still really disappointed though....

I had an audience of others waiting for their turn which made me feel like I was in the spot light. I don't blame them for my failure, it just didn't help.

CBT runs out next month too, gonna have to shell out for that before I can rebook my next lesson/test. I have only been doing one lesson a month too, but I think I may need to up that to two lessons.

  4. On the 12th May I got my module 1 test booked. My instructor was surprised to see that my weak spot wasn't on the figure-of-8, but it was the Emergency Stop. I think I'm finding it hard because I have dropped the bike twice now when practicing it. I applied to much rear brake causing the bike to slide out and inevitably losing balance and being a shorty, doesn't help when trying to keep a lump of a machine upright.

    Any advice or suggestions?

  5. Hello all!

I have a question regarding my rear brake.... My machine is a Lifan 125 2007. It had its MOT recently a passed with no problems. However, the rear brake puts out good performance levels but squeals horribly. After 10-15 minutes of riding and wearing it in a little, the noise disappears. I want to solve this problem once and for all now though. It hasn't bothered until now simply because I logically assumed it was ok because it passed its MOT.

Thoughts and/or suggestions are welcome at this time!

    Thanks

  6. If you guys can let me know how much your lessons etc are please I'd be very interested. Just looking for somewhere reasonably priced with nice instructors.

My theory certificate runs out in October (failed Mod 1 early last yr) and I'd like to do Mod 1 & 2 before it expires, but ideally need a lesson or 2 and to use a 600cc bike for the test.

Sutton Motorcycle Training wanted £140 for a 1hour lesson before Mod 1 and to use their bike for the 10min test  (the same cost me £40 in Cambridge!)! My lovely car driving instructor wants £60 for a 1 hour lesson before and to use his car for the 45min test  !! God knows why 1 hour training + Mod 1 is that expensive...

And when I asked SMT about a couple of lessons just to get used to the bike I'd be doing the test on etc (I've been riding over 3 years and had about 5 lessons, don't need much training) they came up with some £500 training programme :| . Not really bothered looking into it since.

I go to Metropolis every now and again, got bike MOT'd there last year...I don't mind traveling for the right place...I would guess they would be costly though.

My CBT was £85, Theory Test was £25, my current instructor is £20 per-hour and another guy is £25 per-hour but only books on two hour slots. He also offers a nice, flexible "Unlimited" package for £645. This includes unlimited lessons and test booking fees until you have passed. If at the end of it, you didn't get your money's worth of £645, he will offer advanced bike training lessons free of charge.

The two Motorcycle Training companies I am speaking of are; Ride Now in Eastbourne, and 1066 Motorcyle Training in Bexhill.

  7. As some of you know, I have recently passed my theory test and now I am looking to progress further. However I was quoted a rather large figure of what it could take for me to be ready for my practical test. Therefore, I am looking to practice most of the areas needed to be successful in passing my test on my own, with only having one or maybe two lessons a month.

I would like to know what all the areas, points and manoeuvers there are that I will need to practice and get right, in order to pass my test.

I had an assessment done yesterday and the only thing my instructor could fault me on, Was my observations (mirrors, lifesavers etc.), my slow riding (I still 'walk' the bike out of spaces when really both feet need to be up), and I should go and practice my manoeuvers like a U-Turn. Finally to use my bike more often, not just the occasional once a week like I have been doing. I was trying to add up all my time I have spent riding since my CBT last summer, and I came up with an approximate figure of 6 Hours at most :|

  8. Since there's a few people interested with this around West -South West of London, and if you fancy joining in to do a TMBF run then maybe we could meet at Cobham services along the M25.

If you're signed up to the yearly Challenge, we could stop off and hit one of those along the way too.

I've never really seen any dickheads at this, but maybe I've just been lucky 8-)

We could pop down through Eastbourne and pick up Troy on our way

    So, anyone up for it?

I wouldn't be able to go to London on my 125 I don't think. If someone is willing to carry me as a passenger, then on the way back to Hastings from London we could stop off to ride my bike down from there?!

Is that what you had in mind? Or did you mean stop by on the way back from London?

  9. So my Theory Test is all booked now and is scheduled for the 12th May!

I have been doing mock tests solid the past few days and at first I was passing all the time and I was surprised how much I still remembered from way back when I took my Driving Theory Test. As time has gone on though, I have been failing the Hazard Perception part at the end and only passing the Question exam barely!

    Can any advice be given?
