Yes it has carbs. What's icing Mate? Have a read of this. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carburetor_icing It's not all the details but helps, and yes Kwaks were well known for it. My GPX had water heated carbs but still suffered occasionally

I have winter gloves with a waterproof liner(not gortex though) and then wear merino wool inner gloves on realy cold days. -
It's probably the neutral switch anyway.

Good write up DJP. I have had a 2008 1250 now for 16 months and fully agree with all your comments relating to your original bike. Is the new screen much better as I have been thinking about a changing mine. Traditional sports tourer seem to be disappearing now and being replaced with the likes of V stroms and Versys.

A Bacon in yo butty? Fixed..? Nah not enough gonna have to side with TOGS. By the way there is a TESCO petrol station not far from the start point Hoggs suggested so that may be a good meeting point. -

looking at the circuit there is not a gear sensor switch, only a neutral sensor. The bike will start with out that making. The quick mod is to short the clutch switch out then it should start.
