  1. The moral of this story, is buy japanese
  2. If your clutch cable's really nackered, it's not too harder job atall to replace it. I did it in the dark, and rode it the next morning. When you fill the cable with oil though, let the excess drain out, otherwise it'll leak out all over your engine casing, which gets hot, and stinks

    Rogue Tank

I'd imagine the tank is held on with a bolt or 2, to get to them you'll probably have to get the seat off. Might be worth checking they're tight. If they are tight, i'd suggest getting the tank right off, see if it's got a dent or something stopping it sitting properly. Short of that, sit on the floor and cry
  4. Be warned, when you undo the cover, a bit of oil might dribble out, nice stain on my patio that
  5. You won't blow it up, you'll just look a prat a few times
  6. Aint that the truth! Dw, you'll get much quicker at it
  7. eek! Well the yam. Stealer near me wanted £25, you can imagine how fast i left the shop. I tried a few local garages and no one had the exact part. I'm sure my friend, any motor factors near you?
  8. wemoto have one, about £6 http://shop.wemoto.com/index.dyn?oid=2147678 And yes, it'll work, I know, I bought one
  9. Loose cam chain? Just an idea
  10. Is this from first to second? You may well be hitting neutral inbetween. Push it up really firmly from 1st to second. Or if you're giving it the gas to accelerate, but not letting the clutch out, it'll rev it's nuts off
  11. That's exactly what it was doing, it didn't do it in my garden standing still.
  12. Yeah i've suspected this for a while, because it's been running rich. I'm not sure about this drip anymore, I pulled the black hose up and the end of it wasn't wet with petrol or anything. Where the drips are from is all kinda covered in a layer of oil. I wonder if i've over oiled my chain. That, or my crankcase is leaking, which isn't good.
  13. I suspect this carb of mine might require some long overdue attention this winter
  14. From the bottom of my carb runs a black rubber hose, which runs down under the bike. recently, this pipe has dripped fuel when left for a long time. I understand this pipe to be for draining the float chamber, or using plastic tubing, checking the float height. Might it be leaking just because the screw that holds it shut is lose. Any ideas why it might be leaking?
  15. Errm Yes, that was it - really strong gusts of wind on the M6 I hear they're worste where there's no speed cameras I don't mind riding in the winter, apart from this latest carb freezing thing, which suddenly makes me think fuel injection might not actually be balck magic and worth having. If only I could afford it. Don't mind it being cold, get more layers on you sissys. I like riding in the bright sun you get this time of year, unless it's in my eyes. And if you've got the right gear on, riding in the rain's no so bad, you feel all cocooned
  16. But para the speed limit is 70 :o I don't understand!?
  17. Yes- It will idle with no choke Yes- It was bloody cold outside.....beleive me It's an SR 125 Stu. Checked the air filter but haven't mucked with the idle. Think the float height's wrong anyway.
  18. And no, i'm not stalling it. Evertime i stop the bike stalls. When I change gear it feels like it's going to stop, and the revs in general feel less.....powerful than they should be. I know the bike's been running rich for a while, and also the other night it dropped from standing on the right hand side (ie. throttle grip) but it just dug in to the mud of my garden about half an inch? Any ideas anyone? I think i might overhaul the whole carb/throttle cable / throttle grip system this winter.......atleast.......try
  19. My SR has the same problem, and was told by Yam. Mechanic it's a common problem. Mine will normally fire without choke so I don't use it much though. If I do I either hold it out manually for just a few seconds, or peg it out Short of replacing the carb, I don't know how to fix the issue entirely.
  20. Jesus, I see what you mean. No expert but that does sound a bit......gargling nails doesn't it.
  21. I think you're expecting a bit much from this thing. the reason the 50's are quicker is that they are two stroke. Most 125 4 strokes won't hit 60 with ease, especially not one designed for off roading. Just about 50 with a tail wind sounds about right. As mentioned above, 5th is often an overdrive gear, with little or no acceleration, try leaving it in 4th longer for a tad more acceleration to a higher speed. This is certainly the case on my SR.
  22. Well, if you've ever got some spare time you can always clean the carb up. You can find companys that sell carb overhall kits, new seals and jets and stuff. If you find one for the SR lemme know, I may well do this over winter.
  23. Book / factory settings for carbs are often inaccurate once the engines old and things are dirtied up and not the same shape ect.
  24. So far on the 125 meet 2 125s A 600 A 500 A 250 you don't need A level maths to stop the problem here I'd be up for it though, on my 125 but not for a while with exams in jan and all that jazz to worry about.
  25. SRs (not just because I have one) are said to be quite reliable and generally problem free. There's not any kinda, running issue, that i'm aware of. The way I see it your options are to test and check everything again, see if you can find and fix the problem. Or if you can't be arsed and you're sick of the sight of it just cut your losses and sell it for what you can get.
