  1. So chain has arrived. Here's the chain link: http://s800.photobucket.com/user/martash2009/media/IMG_20161223_142355098.jpg.html?o=1 http://s800.photobucket.com/user/martash2009/media/IMG_20161223_142408220.jpg.html?o=0 is that a soft link? I'm not sure of the difference. Also they have sent a different type of front sprocket. Should have been a JT brand.
  2. Thats where I broke my tool, its surprisingly easy to over tighten it seems. I was lucky enough to have a couple of motorbike mechanics check my rivet out and say its fine... The chain i bought had specs for size of rivet when finished, I did not quite get there but trusted mechanics said it was fine... Slowly and keep checking seems to be the way. I don't have anyone to check for me so I expect pics at some point
  3. Very useful vid as I had no idea how to use it. I also thought you need to break the master link but it seems you can break any link. hopefully chain set should be here tomorrow.
  4. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142139359994?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Thanks. is this a soft link?
  5. Yes, quick call to my step dad and he has one I can borrow. So I have: Grinder to cut chain tools to remove front sprocket, rear sprocket and rear wheel chain and sprocket set (on order) chain tool and riveter for linking the chain together torque wrench for reassembly tightening as required. anything else I need? apart from a decent day to do it in of course
  6. This My mate decided to use his newly purchased chain tool to try and remove the chain and snapped the only pin! he had to go out and buy another plus a spare I showed him how to remove it with a grinder Looks like I can pick up a cheapish grinder with a metal cutting disc for about £20. Would that do the job?
  7. Father Christmas has got me (because i've been a good boy this year) a Drift Stealth 2. Quality looks good, shape is better for me than a Go-Pro. No mic port though but i dont need that anyway. £90 from amazon.
  8. Thanks will check the video later when not at work. I dont have a grinder so will have to rely on the chain tool doing it's job. i think the 530 size chain is correct for an FZ6, so will need to get that ordered also.
  9. Ha, if only. Would have saved me a whole heap of trouble a couple of months back
  10. Actually thinking about replacing the whole set - chain and sprockets. Would it be suitable for a novice to attempt. Looked at some youtube clips tonight and looks do able. Also looking at this set. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142139359994?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  11. Cheers will get one on order. now for the chain link, how do I know what size it is? I checked the chain but cant make out any lettering
  12. The chain only touches at the slackest point. Any recommendations on a chain tool? seem to be quite a few on ebay but not sure of quality. Thanks
  13. the noise is a continuous clicking though which speeds up the faster I spin the wheel, could that be one stiff link? Yeah a stiff link can give a slight click/knock as the wheel turns and cause the chain to jump a little the best way to check it to get it on a paddock stand or centre stand if it has one and slowly spin the wheel while watching the chain for any links that don't straighten back out as the chain comes around the sprocket Just checked all seem fine, the only 'odd' looking one is the master link
  14. Just tried, hard to move it at all really, certainly not more than a couple of mm
  15. The guy in the youtube clip suggests it was the type of front sprocket he was using
  16. Probably need to order me a chain tool then. I have no idea how old the chain is though. Is this just an annoying noise or should I not be riding the bike anymore??...which would be rubbish but obviously if its dangerous then so be it.
  17. found a youtube link . this is exactly the noise im getting. same circumstances eg. on centre stand moving wheel by hand.
  18. the noise is a continuous clicking though which speeds up the faster I spin the wheel, could that be one stiff link? Yeah a stiff link can give a slight click/knock as the wheel turns and cause the chain to jump a little the best way to check it to get it on a paddock stand or centre stand if it has one and slowly spin the wheel while watching the chain for any links that don't straighten back out as the chain comes around the sprocket Ah I can see the chain jump a little, not a lot but it's there. will try that tomorrow after work. am I checking the chain as it comes around the front sprocket? also how do you fix a stiff link?
  19. I reckon there is a about 5cm of play in the chain, at its slackest point( next to the left foot peg) I can push it up far enough to touch the swing arm.
  20. This is the only link which looks different and stands out to me. http://s800.photobucket.com/user/martash2009/media/IMG_20161218_192857519.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0
  21. Just had another listen/look albeit not very well by torchlight but the noise definitely sounds around the inside the front sprocket area. also there is some play in the chain, how loose should it be. I ran the wheel pulling the chain tight with my finger and the noise didn't change.
