Second thoughts...
Foxy Stoat seeks Pig replied to quietbiker's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I did this in a local sports field car park. Even marked out some MOD 1 test marking with chalk. I think the locals thought I was mad. -
Don't fret about that!! 90% of my posts are in the Pitstop. I enjoy the learning and i can only learn by asking questions. Everyone is very helpful. I don't even know enough to have tried anything which requires a question in pitstop! Closest I've come so far to mechanical maintenance is pumping up the tyres! I was the same 10 months ago. I'm getting there gradually. This coming Friday I am doing coolant, oil and brake fluid change. Brake pads and sprockets changed were over Christmas. Still have a new chain to go on once I man up and get it done.

ok thanks, any idea where I would find the drain?
-
Thanks Stu, I don't think the oil is too full, if anything it needs a drop in it. so nothing to worry about?

Sorry, another pitstop post but i'm keen to learn..... I have a K&N air filter so I cleaned it out using the cleaner and oil kit. When I took the top off I found this sort of gunge (centre of pic below) http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy283/martash2009/IMG_20170318_123612073.jpg Also found a small collection of fluid in the right hand side of box. http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy283/martash2009/IMG_20170318_123754151.jpg I've cleaned it all up, just wondered what it is and why it is there. Thanks.

Ha ha, I bought mine about 6 weeks before my test. Just had to have it waiting for me when I passed.

Removing scratches from plastic

i have some silver t-cut on order, worth a try for a fiver. Maybe try vinyl after that, i'm not that keen on stickers on my bike. -

Ok, thanks both, t-cut first then some kind of sticker arrangement methinks. -
Any ideas? I have noticed some light scratching has appeared on 'back bit behind the seat' (very technical I know Anyway picture below of scratches and part of bike I mean. http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy283/martash2009/Scratch.jpg Would something as simple as T-Cut be effective? No big drama, not sure how long they have been there but really annoying me now every time I get on the bike Thanks all.

It's great feeling getting a bigger bike, in fact I hadn't passed my MOD 2 when I got mine. Also I didn't realise you could just start a bike a ride away. I let mine warm up every morning, guess this is unnecessary then.

side stand switch issue....again
Foxy Stoat seeks Pig replied to Foxy Stoat seeks Pig's topic in Pitstop
I mentioned I had some because its worked wonders on my disclock mechanisms. -
side stand switch issue....again
Foxy Stoat seeks Pig replied to Foxy Stoat seeks Pig's topic in Pitstop
Thanks. Really do not want to take it off for the sake of greasing it every few months. Any particular type of grease I should use? -
No great drama but seems the side stand spring and/or switch is all gummed up and not working correctly. Not surprising as I have been riding daily all through winter. Had to pull it out the switch fully with my finger to get it started to get home, then tried to get it on the centre stand instead of the side stand and dropped the bike against the side of house.....doh! Anyway, i had this problem in September when I opened up the switch and give it a good lube with spray oil. Did the job but its there anything I can use which will last longer. I have 3 in oil, multi oil, silicone oil, GT85, WD40, ACF 50, copper grease and red rubber grease. Which, if any, of those would do a decent job?? I have given the stand spring and switch a quick spray tonight but want to give it a proper seeing to when I have time at the weekend. Cheers.

Used these type connectors. http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy283/martash2009/IMG_20170225_120357994.jpg Not much wire to play with so was a bit fiddly. But.... http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy283/martash2009/IMG_20170225_120411992.jpg It works!! Thanks for all the help -

Yes will try and sort something over the weekend. Those bullet type connectors come in 3 difference colours, blue, red and yellow. Which would i need for inidicator wire? -

Wasn't thinking of using the whole loom. Just cut the connector you need off and then replace your old one. Can join the wires any way you like. Terminal block, solder scotchlok, anything. Ah I see, makes sense now. replacing the whole thing seemed a bit overkill. -

Will try that and when I lose my temper will just butcher it and use a terminal block and tape -

I hope I can tease the connector out because I think refitting that whole loom is probably beyond my capabilities. If it came to it Would I be able bypass the holder and connect the two wires using a connecting block? -

Had a better look tonight before the light went and I found this http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy283/martash2009/IMG_20170222_173736586.jpg Think this could be the problem? Seriously though I can see some snapped wire in the connector, so how do I get that out and how do i get the new wire back in? Thanks
