    I've ordered this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0BRGSNDVY

I wouldn't use AliExpress - it gets shipped directly from China.  I'm not sure were that leaves you in terms of warranty if it becomes faulty, or arrives faulty.

So this arrived today, and first impressions I'm very impressed with it.  Topped up the bike tyres, and checked the 4 car tyres - one was a bit low.  The battery indicator has gone done 1 stop (of 3 levels).

I'm a bit dubious about how it will last long term, especially the battery, but we'll see..

  2. Hi All,

After being a bit lazy checking my tyre pressures (on the bike and car), and getting a flat after a slow puncture I think it's time I bought a tyre inflator that can plug into the mains.

I know there are plenty online and in Halfords.  Can anyone recommend one that they use?

    Thanks!

  3. I've been to Gran Canaria a few times, and would highly recommend it for the roads and views.  Just be careful with the speed - Spain has an agreement to chase speeding tickets for UK residents.  I had a speeding ticket from Tenerife, not Gran Canaria, but you have be careful in both.

Good luck with the Sale. I cant make my mind up if its a good time or not, with high bills and mortgages etc, but then I see people spending like its the last day on earth, buying bikes and eating out etc. I just don't get it.

I think any time there's a (semi) "recession" there will always be people who carry on spending as they were, or even spend more because they need a break from life.
The number of new bikes that I see all the time sort of proves it - but it could be the older generation  Bikes are relatively cheap for the enjoyment you get out of them - that's what I tell myself 😁

  6. Thanks for the advice.  So it looks like better to meet at my house, not offer test rides (unless deposit or wife has been left :)).

    I'll probably got with Autotrader.

One thing just occurred to me - is it better to wait until April/May when the weather is better, and more people are looking at getting bikes?  I don't mind holding onto it for a few months if I can get a few hundred £ more.  Also, the MOT and Service aren't due till about July.

  7. Hi,

I've bought a Kwak 1000SX and am now selling my Honda CBR650F.

I'm looking for advice on the best way to sell it.  A few things I need help with:

    1. Where to sell - Autotrader?

    2. Where to meet potential buyers - I've read they some could be scouting for bike to steal.  Optionally meet them at a car park - though this does appear dodgy from their side

    3. Payment - is cash better than bank transfer?

    4. Anything else I should be aware of?

    TIA

You must be taking an awful lot of gear to need the panniers AND a 60ltr dry bag. I did a week in France in August with just a 20ltr Kriega bag. I was however stopping in B&Bs whereas you may be camping.

You might be right Yorky - I'm getting a bit carried away.  I'm staying at B&Bs too, and just me..

I haven't put a packing list together yet but it's something like:  large camera bag, small camera bag, tripods x 2, laptop, bike overnight cover, a few t-shirts, jeans, socks, pants.  Plus gopro, insta360 adapters, chargers.  Also, spare gloves, and maybe jacket inner.

  9. I've heard that Kawasaki don't recommend panniers and top box fitted at the same time.  I don't carry passengers so think it will be OK.  The Kawasaki salesperson I spoke to said the same.

On searching for top box options I found :

    Kawasaki Top case 47L -

totals about £684.70 with all parts.

Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX (21-22) SHAD Top Box Fitting Kit

£135.89 - not sure what else is required (after the box obv :)).

    link

Does anyone on here use either one of these?  If so can you advise on how well the work..?

    TIA

It's not a bad idea to keep some old towels in the workshop. Lay them out over the bike when doing any work. They help prevent paintwork damage when tools slip and also prevent things dropping into places you don't want them to disappear into.

Yes - I'll do this from now on.  I didn't realise the hassle it could cause dropping a screw.

  11. I thought about checking YouTube just after posting this.  I found a video of the fairing being removed on a 1000SX - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnIzC4JJclg

I managed to follow this and on lifting the tank could see the screw about 10 inches away.  I couldn't get anything to grab it so have ordered a flexible claw crabber from Amazon which should arrive tomorrow - https://www.amazon.co.uk/NoCry-Pick-up-Tool-Set-Telescoping/dp/B07D24Q9BP

    I'll keep you all posted..

  12. Hi, I've been an idiot and dropped a Quadlock screw (about an inch long) into my Kawasaki 1000SX - and it's gone under the fuel tank.

The red arrow is where it fell, (the 2 yellow circles are 2 bolts I've removed)

    Here's another photo close-up

    1319405413_Pic2.thumb.jpg.17c72dfa2b1cf72984eca6ac106ab66a.jpg

When it first fell down there I could see it, and tried to get it with a magnetic screwdriver, but it fell even further down - and made a small clink.

    What are my options?

    1. Remove the bolts holding in the fuel tank, and lift it, and get access to the screw.  I did undo a few bolts but the fuel tank is still rock solid.

    2. Ring Kawasaki and ask them what to do - the bike is 2 weeks old..

    3. Call out bike breakdown

    TIA

    Hi There

I have found these ok in the past and used them on several different bikes.

    Cheers

    Ian

Thanks - does it have room for panniers? (link - https://www.amazon.co.uk/XYZCTEM-Motorbike-Waterproof-Motorcycle-Protection/dp/B0874CJ2V2)

(EDIT: After looking at the reviews it looks like it has room for panniers - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/customer-reviews/R3TXE9Z7ZJBUHX/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0874CJ2V2)
