  1. This in a city that has a bus 'gate'.. so only buses are allowed to pass it. however NO Buses do.. its not on any route. but that didn't stop the council collecting over £660,000 of fines in a year.. from the camera they placed at this so-called bus gate.. that never sees a bus.
  2. I'll beat Stu to it and say YES.. THIS. Ive had a Garmin Zumo 660 for the past 6 years and it was definitely one of my better decisions. (hinting it would make a perfect christmas gift)
  3. worth repeating.. and enlarging for extra emphasis.
  4. 3 or 4 years ago the pinlocks packed with Shoei helmets did not have the Day time only sticker. As recently as Feb the official stance from Pinlock as confirmed by Luca in an email to me was that the clear items are suitable for night use. It is only recently Pinlock have changed their stance as can be seen in the email trail I posted at the start. Ok.. maybe I phrased my post incorrectly. As long ago as 2007 (October) this was being discussed and a cause of much outrage on forums with American members. why should a clear pinlock insert in a shoei helmet with a clear visor be marked DAYTIME USE ONLY? below is a screenshot of a post thats almost 10yrs old. it may not be readable.. so here is exactly what it says. So.. are these inserts now being sold in the UK.. originally intended for the American market? or.. is the apparent 'problem' thats at least 10 years old still with us? In more recent posts there are people saying that the two together.. a pinlock plus a shoei visor reduced light transmission to 80% and its this that makes them unsafe at night.. though others talk about intrusive halos and ghosting. (starbursts)
  5. Buyers have been talking about this 'daytime use only' for clear pinlocks.... and nearly always for SHOEI visors for almost 10 years.
  6. Happy birthday!!!
  7. Don't confuse what they use in racing with what we might use n the road. Different disciplines, different surroundings. For example, racers have to use 1 piece leathers. Im not confusing anything.. I was merely suggesting that people who ride race bikes do tend to wear what the racers wear.. whether thats a replica helmet, leathers or gloves. its not often that you see guys riding a RR in Rukka textiles for instance. but.. it was definitely a neat way to change the subject. well done you.
  8. Vert rarely happens.. Im sure you're right.
  9. discovery and adventure? like going somewhere you have never been before on a bike.. with people you have never met. on a bike you have never owned.
  10. As far as I'm aware that is and has always been an often mentioned purpose of armour on the knuckles on bikes where hand guards aren't appropriate. In rare cases I'm sure armour here would help if you had a low side and your hand became trapped between the bike and ground. which is the more debilitating an injury.. a broken finger or a crushed knuckle. Finally.. Isn't there always some desire especially among super sports bike riders to ape the top rank racers. Is knuckle armour commonly used by racers? As an example... Look closely at the gloves both Marc Marquez and Rossi wore last year. They sure look armoured to me.
  11. Hard Knuckles...they're great for those odd occasions where you really need to punch someone and don't want to risk scuffing your knuckles on some twats face.
  12. No. just start the engine and ride away. warming up is a thing of the past for you now... totally unnecessary. in fact.. the quicker you ride away the sooner the bike hits its ideal temperature and fuel consumption becomes 'normal'... and if the bike has a CAT.. it starts to work as it should,
  13. Thats a good price.. me, i prefer to use the Channel Tunnel for various reasons.. but it has to be said its double that price. Ive recently booked a return at £79 that for a long week.. crossing on the Saturday morning and returning the Sunday of the following weekend. so 9 days. There are perhaps 8 of us going to Austria later in the year.. at the end of the summer.
  14. My favourite recipe based on a screwdriver.... two parts vodka, four parts orange juice, and one part Galliano.
  15. Congratulations. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w40/motobiker/hogroast.gif~original
  16. keeping it simple since 1982
  17. who exactly are you aiming this business at? reason i ask is as you are based in Bavaria.. and seem to be specialising in the Alps.. then you are really aiming at experienced travellers because there is the small matter of 'getting there and back' organising all that even before the 'tour' starts properly. as an example.. someone travelling from Chester to a start point.. eg Fussen. thats a 900+ ride and needs some careful planning.. how to cross to the European mainland.. which ports to use. accommodation en route. 900 miles? thats a 2 day trip at least. Would someone who has never travelled by bike before be up to that? possibly travelling alone? Im not so sure. Bike tour operators who offer a similar 'for profit' service from the UK usually take care of everything.... asking only that their customers make their own way to a port.. or the tunnel and be there at a certain time. and then.. they sort everything else. this is what you pay for and what you should expect. No experience required.
  18. congratulations. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w40/motobiker/hogroast.gif~original

  20. Happy birthday!!
  21. On my way [emoji106] Leave your helmet at home. You won't need that And almost certainly render your travel insurance invalid in the process. Dominican republic does have helmet laws.. not enforced and so ignored by the locals which makes the place the most dangerous country in the western hemisphere for motorcycle riders. If you choose to ignore the local laws.. then be sure to read the small print in your insurance documents. see if the insurer has anything to say about that. http://www.who.int/violence_injury_prevention/road_safety_status/2015/country_profiles/Dominican_Republic.pdf
  22. If I remember rightly this problem was subject to a PUMA.. and so what that means is it was a recognised problem but to avoid a worldwide recall... they only fixed bikes that get the problem - because not all did. it might be worthwhile contacting a dealership and asking if your bike has had the fix.. and if not, can anything be done. They will want your VIN number.. so have that handy when you call. it used to be the case that BMW would pay for fixes like this after the warranty had expired... because its a known issue. so its worth asking.
  23. Unfortunately that was the only photo they had of the suit fully opened. I did say it was one of their more garish colours. not something I would choose. i would probably go for the old favourite. To be fair.. the price of the suit isnt bad when you compare it with Rukka.. my jacket cost more than that suit.
  24. Ive only once seen something like you describe.. the pants open in a similar way to this suit.. with a full length zip.. running up the inside of both legs. so.. you can literally step out of them with zero struggle. only downside is its made in the USA and not cheap. add on shipping and possible duties. I cant find a photo of the pants opened.. but heres a suit in one of their more garish colourways. pants cost about £560 + shipping/duty. The suit as shown.. about £800+ Ive yet to see a European equivalent... a proper suit or trousers that is fully office friendly and good for general biking too. fully armoured and waterproof.. warm for winter.
