  1. Thanks a lot guys.. Definately going to invest in a charger and then I've got one either way. Thought I was being clever by just starting the engine and letting it run periodically... Obviously not as effective!
  2. Hey guys I've got a FZ6 in my garage which hasn't been used in a while. I'd been starting the engine regularly and letting it run for a bit to stop the battery going dead but I took my eye of the ball with it a bit recently. Anyway the bike starts starts when connected to my car battery but will not start on its own. I'm unable to take it for a run-around to charge it up as the MOT has expired so possibly the issue is that I'm not giving it some revs once it's jump started? I'm guessing a new battery is required but is there any equipment that is cheaper than a battery that can possibly charge it back up?
  3. If your looking at bandits and SV650 then you should look at an FZ6 aswell. Great bike
  4. Hi guys I'm still looking to source the fairings if anyone knows off anywhere to get them? Hoping to replace them myself really
  5. Cheers guys. Yeah there wasn't a scratch on me and I got lucky as my bike slid down the road and missed an oncoming car by about an inch! So to confirm is the bike safe to ride do you think? I managed to ride it back ok after I came off it... Or a trailer job to get it to the garage?
  6. Hey all Had my first off not long ago at low speed on my FZ6, I was going slow round a corner due to rain and I'm not sure why but the bike just slipped from underneath me and slid down the road. Luckily the crash sliders did there job and stopped most of the damage but I have cracked the fairings on the bike, one is on the nose by the handlebars and the other is on the rear fairing under the seat. Firstly, is it safe to ride the bike while the fairings are like this? Secondly, where do I start with repairing this? Is there some good reputable places where people buy their fairings for these bikes? Thanks in advance.
  7. I mean it's the first service since I've had it, not it's first ever. Bad terminology on my part.
  8. What makes you think that? Only bought it last year
  9. Hi my bike has it's first service and MOT coming up but I'm a bit precious about it and don't want to leave it with just anyone. Can anyone recommend anywhere around the Stamford/Peterborough area?
  10. If you can't afford the costs for a DAS then you can't afford to be a biker. Period. The training costs are just the start...
  11. As the title suggests really. I've found that a lot of motorbike gear is cheaper if you shop online rather than go to a local store.. But obviously it's a bit of a lottery I guess with ordering the right sizes? Would anyone recommend buying online for this stuff or is just better to go local and try it even though it's more costly?
  12. Always better to click more than less. I got kicked out of two of the videos due to clicking too much... Still passed easily.
  13. My instructor told me told us to go into the bend no more and no less than 15mph and then gain your speed from there. This apparently works really well, any faster and your fighting the bike to get it round the bend and losing speed, any slower and you don't have enough time to gain the speed
  14. As the title suggests really! I'm counting down the days until I can pick up my bike after passing my test a couple of weeks ago, but I've been spending the time swotting up and watching vids to avoid mistakes as I'm still very inexperienced and had never rode before my DAS
  15. Passed my MOD2 on 23rd May at 2nd attempt. 1st attempt I got two majors, one was when the examiner asked me to pull over and then move off again. I indicated left to pull over and I was sure I cancelled the indicator... when I moved off again I was still indicating left and didn't realise until quite further down the road so obviously didn't push the button in properly! Indicators have been a problem with me... being so used go driving cars when you can hear them clicking or they turn themselves off! 2nd major fault was because I though I was riding in a 30 and was doing 28mph... turned out I was in a 40 and 28mph in a 40 zone is way too slow and got a fail for holding up traffic. I agreed with the examiner and have no complaints at all. 2nd attempt I was just a bag of nerves as usual and due to this I kept going the wrong way countless times... One point the examiner asked me to turn around in the road! There was almost an incident at one point when we was slow moving in 2 lanes due to traffic and the lorry next to me was determined to switch into my lane....Whether I was there or not! He started turning into my lane and I'm sh*tting myself and started moving towards the left of my lane to stop being taken out by this lorry before the Examiner sped up next to me and said "don't worry I'm just pulling up next to you because this lorry driver is being an idiot. We're not letting him in" Got the the end of the test and was so relieved when the examiner said I'd passed with 3 minors! He gave me a right telling off for going the wrong way so many times and putting him 20 minutes behind schedule though! Put a deposit down on a FZ6 but having to wait few weeks for it to be serviced and MOT'd before I get it which is killing me! can't wait to get on the road.
  16. Thank you My only other concern is if I go to look at any bikes at the weekend will most places need to see a licence before I test ride? All I have right now is a photo of the certificate on my phone... I'm not planning on going to a dealership for a brand new shiny bike, just used bike places.
  17. Hi guys passed Mod2 today The examiner offered to send off my licence for me but I said I'll do it as I have to change the address on it too. Am I still legally able to ride right now or do I need to wait until licence has returned? As the examiner hasnt updated my licence and my certificate has been sent off to DVLA, I now have no proof that I've passed the test at all? Thanks!
  18. So relieved to of passed my MOD1 today, it wasn't without hiccups though. I went into it fairly calm as had performed all the manoeuvres many times on practice and was quite confident with them. The only small niggle in my mind was the first one where you have to drag the bike backwards from one box to the other. Mainly because I'm a bit of a weakling and found the Bandit 650 quite heavy. It couldn't of started any worse, when I went to move the bike to the other box I couldn't budge it! It was only after a couple of pulls I realised that I had left the bike in gear! So I apologised profusely to the examiner and hopped back on to put it in neutral. For some reason this small hiccup just seemed to open a floodgate of nerves which I had never had before, was shaking like a leaf moving the bike back and was panting with nerves. I then went into the slalom and figure of 8 in this state and it was probably the messiest slalom that the examiner has ever seen but I somehow managed it. Once I did the U turn I managed to calm down a bit as I was lot more comfortable with the faster manoeuvres and got through it ok. I was also quite shocked to get my paperwork with no minors! Mod2 booked for the 25th so looking forward to it. I've really enjoyed the whole experience of learning to ride but didn't enjoy the Module 1 test at all, but at least its over with!
  19. Hi guys Completed my CBT today ahead of my DAS course. Overall I thought it went well and was I very enjoyable experience. I feel like I am taking to it well despite have no experience on a bike other than 30minute assessment. The only thing I feel like I am struggling to get to grips with is the emergency stop? I am finding it very challenging to do it without skidding. I know why I am skidding, because I am applying way too much pressure on the rear brake, (as the instructor says) but it is so hard not to as my instinct is not to tap the brake when I am trying to stop immediately! Any advice welcome but its only my first day on a bike so will hopefully pick it up soon.
