  1. Yeah but its hard to have fun being lapped :P nah im just kidding I'll still enjoy it no matter how many people pass me, as long as I dont end up spending an entire session without seeing another bike like I did a couple of times at my last track day then I'll be happy :) I'm guessing that wont be a problem though as I assume due to it getting closer to spring/summer now the track days will start to be a bit busier than they have been at all of the ones I've been to so far.

Oh and yeah it would be nice to at least start a session with you and try and keep up :) try being the main word there..

  2. lol yeah you look like you could hold your own in the fast group. I just watched some of your vids of cadwell and I'm amazed how much faster you were on the one you did on 26/10/09 compared to 06/10/09 (the dates might not be entirely correct but you'll know which ones I mean). Did you get your track bike in between those 2 track days or did you just do a few other track days in between or something?

  3. boy that thread title sounds really sad dont it

but why i ask is i would like to do one,but would like a more indepth insight of what happens on the day befor i jump in and do my first one

Just book yourself on one in the novice group and trust me you'll be fine :) I had never even seen a track day and I went and did my first one in January on my own - everyone was really friendly and helpful so whenever I wasn't sure exactly what was going on or where I was supposed to be I just asked someone. The organisers explain it all pretty well though at the start of the day - although I did find that a lot of the time they only seemed to announce that your group was going out on track soon like a couple of minutes before you were due on track so I ended up in a bit of a mad rush from the cafe to where my bike was a few times... but you soon learn :P

If you try to book one that you know someone on here is doing then I'm sure anyone here would be perfectly happy to meet you at the start of the day and show you the ropes :)

  4. Nice :D can see you getting more into it as the day went on, going for the better lines around the corners and overtaking a few people :) seems like quite a good idea having the people who are very new to the track wearing a high vis jacket as well, I wish they had done that at the track days I've been to as it would help you identify which people are likely to suddenly take a really weird line around a corner at the last minute and almost fly into you :P

  5. Yeah sounds good :) I'm not sure which track bike yet but PhilGale has kindly found me a 2000 reg R6 for sale near me that is all ready for the track so I'm off to look at that next weekend (I was supposed to go look at it on sunday morning but the snow was too bad!) so might end up with one of those :)

  6. there designed to stay on all the time.

Yeah but not like FOREVER. I know they are not designed to be taken off every now and then or anything but realistically not everyone who uses them is going to want them on there for the rest of the bike's lifetime. I mean what if you sold the camera, you would have no need for them.. or sold the bike and the buyer didnt want them on there etc etc.

  7. Ah right, I'll have to try find somewhere forward facing to mount mine then. You got any footage from this weekend on youtube yet then? :)

Oh and also, how are you planning on getting these adhesive mounts off? I tried to get one off yesterday and ended up using a knife and scratching my paintwork quite a bit :( There must be a better way but I sure as hell couldnt find one, when they are stuck on so well..

  8. Got my GoPro HD today :) Made a little test video on the same road that I did the test video for the Contour HD on:

One problem I had though is that you cant rotate the GoPro like you can with the Contour HD so I had to film the video sideways and then rotate it afterwards in my video editing software, but this means that the top and bottom get chopped off. It doesnt particularly matter in this test video as its only more sky and the bottom of the wheel that are missing. Phil - how are you mounting your GoPro? Do you have to film sideways as well?

  9. Just thought I would mention that I had a few problems with the Contour HD that I bought (the massive amount of wind noise mentioned above being one of them but the others were more technical issues/faults) and I have now sent it back and swapped it for a GoPro HD (which cost £70 on top of the £200 I paid for the Contour :| ) so I'll post an example video from that next week when it arrives :)

Here's a comparison from someone on youtube between the GoPro HD and Contour HD - the audio seems miles better with the GoPro

  10. ok so back to what this thread was about before it went onto video cameras - I'm still looking for a track bike, but more seriously now. I'm getting the last of the huge list of problems with my Audi A3 sorted out this week (hopefully) and then I'm pretty sure I'm gonna sell it and buy a cheaper car, then use the spare cash to buy a race bike + trailer.

So all being well I should have roughly £2000 to spend on a bike, I've found a couple on ebay but just wondered what other people thought of them and if anyone had spotted any other good track bikes for sale.

    There's this 04 CBR600 for £2600 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-CBR600RR-CB ... 2c5309c37a

Also another 04 CBR600RR from uktrackbikes at the top of the page here: http://www.uktrackbikes.com/bike_sales.asp

and a GSXR600 but this hasnt met its reserve yet so no idea how much that would actually cost: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT
