Hi Mate, there's a lot of different pads on the triumph's, might be best to check what's fitted then cross reference, if you want EBC, another way is go to EBC DIRECT website, https://ebcbrakesdirect.com they have complete lists available.

starter motor on a varadero xl125
oldgrump replied to cowjumper's topic in Old Motorbikes, Projects and Restorations
hi, they shouldn't really get stuck, take out the two bolts on l/h side of motor, then just wiggle it free pulling to l/h side, if you have any w/d forty, then spray close to r/h end where it goes in engine, may help O ring, to loosen up. ok -
Hi, Is it leaking when engine not running, or just when engine running? if it's leaking when engine switched off, probably Sump plug! not torque up right, so loosened of, or over tightened and stripped thread, or if only when engine running look at oil filter, if not the rocker box cover(cam cover) Gasket. But can you ask garage to remove bottom fairing so you can check?

starter motor on a varadero xl125
oldgrump replied to cowjumper's topic in Old Motorbikes, Projects and Restorations
Hi and welcome, starter motor fitted at front of engine, remove from l/h side of engine, may have a small plastic cover over it. -
Hi Mate, what bike is it? is it a American import? If not then I really wouldn't start mucking about with it, unless your 100% sure you know what you are doing. Most bikes never need this plug ever removed, and if you muck up getting blanking piece out and damaged the pilot screw underneath, then 99% of the time the carb will be scrap. It shouldn't really make much difference, unless it's a old American import.

Today a man knocked on my door and asked for a small donation for the local swimming pool. I gave him a glass of water. Life is like toilet paper, you're either on a roll or taking shit from some as*hole. I changed my password to "incorrect" . So whenever I forget what it is the computer will say "Your password is Incorrect".

Hi, sorry last line sounds crap!! Right what I meant to say is, if you can't get ignition switch repaired, then make sure when you get new one it'd the same length!!! Last one I fitted the switch was short so the steering lock wouldn't line up with hole in frame, also had to angle it slightly. So ended up cutting plastic surround where switch fits. This one came out of complete lock set brought by owner on e-bay. 1 of 2 stolen/rec in last year. And a word of caution to owners of the CBR125, not Honda's best work, I know I shouldn't post this. but you may want to check routeing of cable, and tuck it away from prying eyes. if you catch my drift.

Hi, as you say, you can't really get to bottom of switch, best way if you can is to re-solder the wire back on, but you have to lift tank up and I think remove small insert panel of fairing, under the right hand side of tank un-plug the two pin red and black connector. to access the bottom of switch, remove the handlebars, no need to undo any cables, just undo bars and with clips off forks just lift bars off forks. Try to keep r/h handlebar level so brake reservoir doesn't hang down. Then remove Headstock off forks, centre nut and 2 bolts on forks, just lift until you have room to solder joint. If you can't re-solder joint and have to buy new one, some of ones on ebay, when fitted the steering lock won't work, and you have to make major alterations cheap shit!!!

ZXR750 turbo conversion

Hi, I take it you test Carbs on bench with the same pump you use on Bike? If using another pump. Maybe different pressures. Hence pushing fuel past Float Valves. -
Hi, as said before not liable under the £325,000, but there are thing's you might want to think off. Sadly my mum passed away in April this year, so at the moment going though probate, but friends of ours did the same as your family a few years ago, and sold there mums home and split it 3 ways. But there Mum became very ill to the state that the daughter who cared for her couldn't cope, and she had to go to a care home. So they put her in a council care home, saying she had no capital. Well the council looked into her finances and realised she had given her monies away as a gift. That's when the things get messy, council asked family to take there Mum away, and put her in private care. Well one of the family had already blown his share, and things got, well not nice. Care homes as you know can be expensive, I know because when my mum went into care in February, I had to sign to say there was £96,000 of private money for 3 years care! before they would take her in. Some care homes in Dorset charge £1700 a week!!!! Sorry not trying to be negative, and hopefully your mum won't ever need full care, and you as a family you are tight knit. And make sure you keep a lot of receipts over next 7 years.

Hi, if you're taken casings off, don't forget to get a new gasket for r/h casing, and I know you got the oil seal in r/h case for oil pump drive, but have you got anyone near you who's got a shot blast cabinet, then you could shot blast/bead blast casings, save you a lot of time, then spray them. And thinking about it the 125 only had 3 outside casing? 100's had 4.
-
Hi Mate, Cheaper to spray them, any good engine case paint will do, I use PJ1 for black, and Simoniz VHT for silver, just wirewool old paint off, then see if you can find some paint degreaser, which you wipe casings over with before spraying. Couple of light mist coats first and then apply heavier coats, but leave to cure between coats. One can at 500ml should be enough to do your engine. Good thing about the RS125 is you can get the engine out of frame in about 15 mins, so you can clean casings on the bench. take it you doing main casings as well or just the 4 outside ones? Price for the 4 outside ones NEW would be about £200 + gaskets. but I think 1 casing now obsolete.

Renntec Sports Rack and Top Boxes
oldgrump replied to Moonraker's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Hi, As JHR has said you can fit a topbox to a renntec rack, this is a couple of photo's to show you my way of fitting, if you stick a plate on rack then weight is over end of rack, so I sat my normal pillion on bike, and lifted plate up and over grab rail. this still gave room for pillion but also moved weight inwards, hence the rack never broke on mine!! Just study pics may be of some help. -
Hi Mate, you say all gears work fine, but rear wheel locks up! but won't move backwards without wheel locking. have you tried to leave it in neutral and then roll it backwards, because it sounds like your rear brake pads have dislodged inside rear caliper, hence the noise when turning, I would check the state of rear pads.

Hi Mate, try going to www.fowlersparts.co.uk and on the first page you can enter either the VIN number or REG no of your bike. It will then open up the parts list, on the right hand side go down to WIRE HARNESS, and open that Item 16 is the ECU. It will give you the part number you are looking for. It will be on the left hand side, then you can cross reference with whats on e-bay. Hope that helps.
