  1. It shouldn't, it will happily run what ever os it came with and run your psp, dual boot just points it to which os you have on startup it does not consume any resources. A virtual machine would do the opposite and likely not run. Also if the update is within the last week you can roll back to the old os then stop it from updating.
  2. Apparently there are some arrests being made in Moscow, probably some more of putins cronies will soon be falling out of windows....
  3. Well definitely a big explosion, they have footage of it going bang, it's a big bang. Can't tell if it was self inflicted as it looked like a truck driving over it that caused it.
  4. Yea looks like a clean break, no sign of explosion unless it's in the middle but you would expect center rail to be damaged and its not...
  5. Another day another step forward to oblivion. The one and only direct link to Russia blew itself up last night. Various reports of missile or sabotage or the train that is also on fire on the railway at the same point suddenly exploding for no reason.
  6. Happy birthday

Welcome As above and the only thing I can add is relax, your doing this for fun, enjoy the experience and if something doesn't go well just do it again.
  8. You could set up a dual boot and install it on the last os it was working on, disable WiFi on that one or stop windows updating.
  9. What Windows ver was it running on
  10. Well that was a saga
  11. Mine was something ridiculous in the early 90's when the gov was in charge of them, it doubled my mortgage. They reckon now 6% is as bad as the old 15% because house prices to income have become well just stupid so loans are much bigger now
  12. Unfortunately interest rates were always going to rise and 4-5% would be in the normal range, we just got used to historic lows. It could unfortunately get a lot worse, if inflation continues which it is likely to do, as everyone wants a 15% pay rise this is going to have a huge nock on effect on inflation to which the BOE wii try to curb by increasing rates.
  13. Makes sense and is probably much easier to lock down a fault should it occur.
  14. Yup shit software usually followed by updates released before being ready.
  15. Do you need the subscription service, what apps as they say do you need. I paid £30 for office 21 as an outright purchase.
  16. You and many others are fine, but not every one is, ust Google update issue with mac update os, big sur has carried over multiple issues, it's not the only ver to suffer, he's not one for dl anything that doesn't have ane apple stamp of approval on it, he's also got server and multiple pc's he knows what he's doing but on more than one occasion the macs have been back to the genius desk who turn out not to be so genius
  17. I can stand apple ware less and they are not without issues, I've a friend who's house is apple rich and I've seen the hair pulling he's gone through when updates and compatability isn't what it's supposed to be. I've not had the old bsod for a long long time, win 7 was a huge improvement over everything before and some of the features built into win 11 are impressive its more the fact they can ship something with clear compatibility issues. Twats.
  18. It has an abridged thread of its own now
  19. I've been doing an office for the wife, a room where my old tower pc was to be banished from, I was informed I was getting a laptop. I mainly only use email and word. What could go wrong it came with both office 365 and office as a separate stand alone thing, 365 they wanted you to upgrade to, ie pay etc. Stuck my word docs on and it didn't like them, could go into word and open them but i can't just double click to open them and there was no thumbnail to show them as a word doc, then fecking one drive decided everything should live on a cloud which I didn't want. Ended up having to do a full wipe and back to the out the box state, had to uninstall 365 and office and one drive and mcafee and one note and just about everything not needed. Paid for a std ver of office 21 and that solved the windows/word not recognising the word docs, what an absolute pain in the backside for what should have been straightforward. Office 21 dl came as an iso, my lappy dose not have an optical drive so I then had to dl a prog, (or an app as they call everything now) to make a virtual drive, which as it turns out I didn't need as Windows now supports virtual drives What should have taken 20mins dell and bill bstrd gates turned into 2 full evenings. Think I'm just getting too old to be bothered with this type of crap now
  20. It's with good cause
