  1. funny you should say that tony, happened to me on my wee sr 125, going around a sharp right, back end went right out from under me, managed to keep it up as it was just a light bike. Then it was going all over the road, it was the same feeling. But hey ho, all seems to be fine
  2. Martyn, if you're struggling, im hopefully meeting up with a couple of my mates about 10am in greenock, dont know where we're going but wont be too far as i need to be back for about lunch time, weather dependant on if we're going or not as its to be -3c here tonight. You're more than welcome to tag along, Im a relatively slow rider as ive only been on big bikes for about 6 weeks, but the other guys enjoy "making progress" i just hold up the back and eventually catch up
  3. lol, yeah mate. So true. Paranoia i think its called! or erm, mentally instability. lol
  4. completely agree vicky. At the end of the day. If you come off a bike at anything above 20mph regardless if you're wearing a backpack or not, its going to hurt
  5. i use a backpack daily for work. I put the softest stuff (clothes etc) nearest my back and the other stuff further away. |to be honest, im a bit of a tight A$$ and spending 200 big ones on a box is something i cant justify just now
  6. seems to have sorted itself. I went out ust a few miles yesterday and it was fine mmm strange. Im thinking there maybe was a film of something on it which has naturally worn off. Was very cautious with it yesterday taking it too work, but its fine no hassles. Thanks for the advice
  7. Depending on the time, Im working lateshift, for the 11th i might come down to meet some of you guys. I dont stay too far away. Could maybe even meet you on the way down the road depending what route your taking. Be good to put a name to faces. Can't do tomorrow martyn, but i'll keep it in mind for the future
  8. Ah never thought of that. I'll get some de-greaser on it and give it a good old clean dont use degreaser on a tyre the can leave a residue which will make it even more slippery or worse case attack the rubber nice warm soapy water i had a nice oily film on my rear tyre the other week i just boiled the kettle and poored it on the tyre cheers stu. Good job i checked this before i done anything
  9. Ah never thought of that. I'll get some de-greaser on it and give it a good old clean
  10. yeah. Sv650 V-twin engine
  11. I had it up and gave it a once round, back seems fine. Havent taken the front off yet, do that tomorrow if i get a chance, getting a bit tight for heading to work now. Back brakes are fine, only a couple of weeks old including a full rebuild, checked to make sure it was working properly and it is. Went out a wee scoot there, and strangely, it feels fine. I leant over a fair bit as much as road conditions allowed and it was causing any problems. got what sounded like a backfire a couple of times tho. Once when accelerating uphill and once when i started the bike with a little bit of throttle
  12. Ooops. my mistake. Its 25mm (2.5cm) which is within the 20-30mm stated in the book
  13. I've been out there. Checked the chain - about 2.5mm of play. alignment is spot on, nuts done up nice n tight. No play on the back wheel. When ive got the bike up on the paddock stand nd let it run on engine revs the chain isnt moving smoothly, it will go and have a wee "jerk" (excuse the expression) now n again, Its not sliping at the rear sprocket, im assuming thats because theres no weight on the rear wheel tho. Ive gave the pre-adjuster on the suspension a wee tweek around aswell. It was set at 6 which is its 2nd most stiffest, so dropped it to 4 which is the factory recommended
  14. On sunday i came out of work, on the way home i reached a roundabout, sitting at 30mph, so clutch in, blip of throttle, down in to 2nd, Before i let the clutch out the back end lock up and kicked out. I tried restarting it, no oy, couldnt select a gear either. So pushed it off the road, got it started, and away i go again, except this time it feels as though the back end is wanting to push out, eg its feeling very light. I thought, right mmm puncture, checked it, nothing. Road at 30mph to the nearest garage, checked the pressures, fine. Ive ridden it home, about another 10miles. Went out on it this morning, and it still feels the same. Almost as tho it isn't connected to the road, went around a corner. Brake lightly for the junction and the back end wanted to go to my offside. I havent been going at speeds even close to what i have done before because of it. But its beginning to bug me now. So much so im a bit frightened to go out on the bike. Any suggestions? Oh, its an SV650 curvy
  15. I stay down in Greenock. Always happy to go out if i aint busy.
  16. I thought thats how it was. Must have had it lucky with the stuff ive bought up until now. I've just ordered a made to measure two piece textile suit, so will keep that as my good one. I have another 2 jackets and 2 trousers 1 jacket and the both trousers are pretty big on my now tho as ive lost about a stone due to a back injury and having to give up lifting weights
  17. ive got them in the tailors(ooo dont i sound posh) just now getting a tear in the trousers fixed so she said she'll try and fit a new zip so jacket/trousers zip into each other, but was just wondering if there was a common size so i can make all my jackets and trousers interchangeable
  18. all my gear has 8 inch connecting zips eg trouser to jacket etc, however, i bought a weise jacket that has an 8 inch zip, but doesnt connect. Is there a size i can buy that would pretty much guarantee fitment to my other stuff?
  19. if its a struggle, chain the rear wheel to the frame
  20. I use both, Aswell as several other security features. Can't be too careful. As everyone has said, if someone is intent on stealing your bike, theyre having it. I went to take a report from a guy who had a 6month old R6 stolen. He had one of the almax chains that was mentioned. Chained to a railing. F***ers cut the railing!
  21. lol ok, i take the hint. However asked the guy in lidl, he said nothing due within the next 4 weeks. So, Ordered a set from the bay
  22. Anyone used them? After my drenching today i thought id invest in an oversuit so looking at these on ebay.
  23. Let us know how you get on. Problem is, its trial and error. Theres never one definite answer to a problem, it cold be one problem, or a combination of loads
  24. How longg as it been sitting for bud? Might just be that the petrol has went stale. I bought a wee bike in november, Gave it a full strip down, clean and rebuild, Would go more than half a mile. Turned out to be stale fuel and a dodgy earth
  25. Although, buying by mail order, how careful is Mr.DHL really going to be with you 1 drop and it's uselses lid? No worries there. It arrived all packed in its box wiyh polystyrene so didnt cause me a concern at all
