1. In Theory yes wrist heating would be better than palm.....decent boots are just as important as you lose a lot of heat from your ankles too And obviously head and neck are the biggest heat losers But grips are just a button instead of plugging in cords
2. Heated Grips here too They can get Hot enough to make your hands sweat sometimes Love them and no need to mess about with wires
3. Excellent! Well Done mate! Feels good when you do a job a garage would charge an arm and a leg for and take 2 weeks to fit in dosnt it
4. Good Job! Is it all back together yet?
5. Cracking bike but I wouldn't go flashing your reg plate online. Some forums are scanned by robots so interesting images sometimes get posted on the wider net. A few pictures of my ER5 were on Bing for a while but the server they were on is now permanently down so they have gone. Didnt notice that Cheers
6. You will def need head bolt torque setting because they are more likely to be TTY bolts and over doing them will make them stretch and need replacing TTY= Torque to Yeild ....meaning they stretch when they hit their limit
7. There aren't any stupid questions, just verification to put your mind at rest.......nothing wrong in that Dont you have a window (inspection cover) that removes so you can get to a bolt/nut connected to the crank that you turn to get TDC? Cant say about Oil but it wont take more than a few minutes to drain it anyway Do you have all the info on doing it? I print out what I need and keep it in a plastic sleeved folder.....which is turning into a Book Now Torque specs, Head Bolt Torquing Sequence, Cam Sprocket Markings, Valve Timing adjustment, Do you have to drop engine or Tilt it forward? TIP:- Do the "work" in your head first, then do same in your head backwards before you even pick up a tool Its instantly going to be a LOT easier than a 4 cylinder liquid cooled engine so thats good already There is also a TW owners forum that will be a lot more knowledgeable about your engine at www.tw200forum.com
8. Good to know what the problem is though Some bikes are prone to fuel pump gumming up...(Hayabusa 1999-2001 gums up)...its not anyones fault except manufacturer Some petrols have fuel cleaner in them....Shell V Power Unleaded does & a bonus is the engine runs a bit smoother How long have you had bike And Are they charging you for the work?
9. Your Welcome, we can only try So you havnt had bike long? To me it sounds like it has a charge problem.... could be a simple wire loose (regardless of what the battery reading is) But if you havnt had bike long take it back before you start to pull stuff off it
10. I have One of these little locks Dont let the price fool you! They are Excellent! you can carry them ANYWHERE because they are SO Tiny! Because of the Price they are seriously under estimated I bought it after a bike magazine recommended it.......you really cant go wrong for the price The key to security is to layer it mine is below #1 tiny disc lock #2 substancial disc lock #3 throttle/brake clamp #4 clutch clamp #5 alarm (connected to Air horns) #6 GPS tracker (battery backup) #7 CCTV (1 hidden 1 on show)
11. The clicking is your solenoid ...good news is its supposed to do that ..... you noticing it suggests its not making the starter spin fast enough to cover the noise, Im just trying to collect enough info BTW So the starter is not spinning fast OR at all? Sluggish? If Its not spinning ok ...Do you have jump leads and access to a car battery (or spare bike battery)? DO NOT TRY TO JUMP THE BIKE FROM A CAR BATTERY WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING it MUST not be running (it will blow your fuses) We need to rule out Starting System/Solenoid and charging system and then wiring Its probably as simple as a loose connection Can You see any corrosion anywhere on ANY wires/cables?
12. The Saddest thing is that anyone who goes into a Psychiatric ward for even a night then loses their licence from the DVLA for 3 month Something I think Does NOT help anyone seeking help, Although in reality unless someone tells them they wont have a clue. He needs to see someone about Medication, If he isnt seeing a Shrink now then he needs to start by telling his DR how he feels He need not worry about being sectioned if he does ...they wont lock him up unless he's running down the road with a Samuria sword I Wish Him Luck
13. Did you take a reading from the battery with the engine running too? ...(idle and revving)...because of your lights brightening when revving ....try a reading with engine running and with everything on ....full beam , indicators brake light...everything you can turn on while stationary.....(except horn)..take notice if the headlight dims again What does the starter work like ? Is it spinning engine over fast in both situations ? Or is it more sluggish than it has been in the past? You said a clicking noise.......can you ID it as starter motor or starter solenoid clicking? Is it clicking when hot & cold or just hot?
14. When You say "began to push her fast down the road, hit the starter switch and she came to life" Do you mean you bump started it? First things first you need to check you battery is holding charge....your going to need a multimeter to see what state the battery is in
15. This is probably your best option You will get advise from people who Love them an will want to see a rebuild go well Good Luck
16. Not too far from me as Tango says LONG line for food when busy
17. I bought my current leathers from Ebay ....the jeans were £45 i think and jacket was £200 (but you can buy cheaper) My Pillion has All new (£700+ for jacket & jeans) and very rarely uses them (well not much this year anyway) All are the same size and I "broke" them in for her........but was happy to go back to My old leathers........cheaper used leathers dont mean crap, when you get a good fit it makes you feel good too
18. Doh! I was talking to someone on another forum and got confused to what site I was on......scratch that
19. That brings up another point.............make sure the springs go back in the way they came out
20. Thats for initial measurments, he says he's taking buckets out....so a bit pointless if he isnt going to measure first I get small bags and label them to know im using same bucket, shim, valve, valve furniture & springs..so I dont get wrong readings and I use an eye loop to read the shim numbers
21. The Rocker cover gasket should be re-usable?
22. You Got NO Problem doing it You Basically got it down to a T and understand Exactly what you gotta do AND in the right order just 2 things #1 use some zip ties to keep chain on sprocket while your timing...it Will jump otherwise & #2 .Whats a ladder?
23. Very True & I Also hate rocker cover gaskets
